Yeongdeungpo Station Korean dinner: crunchy bossam kimchi at Hantiok

Hantiok Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo branch is a Korean restaurant in the basement 1 food court of Lotte Department Store, connected to Yeongdeungpo Station in Seoul, serving gukbap (rice soup), Andong guksi (noodle soup) and bossam (boiled pork). On the evening before a holiday, the writer ordered two bossam sets (bossam, mandu and a soup, 19,000 won each), choosing Andong guksi and Hanwoo ugeoji gukbap (Korean beef soup with dried cabbage), and was most impressed by the tender bossam and the crisp, chewy bossam kimchi. Hantiok is a good place for a filling Korean meal before catching a train at Yeongdeungpo Station.

Couple's à la carte gopchang BBQ trio at Dangsan Station: Chodaechang

Chodaechang Dangsan Station (초대창 당산역점) is an offal BBQ restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Olive Young building, right in front of Exit 11 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The couple behind the blog skipped the mixed platter and ordered gopchang (small intestine), daechang (large intestine) and makchang as single servings. Staff grilled them from start to finish in that order, and the couple finished with doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice soup) and kimchi mari guksu (cold kimchi noodles). Verdict: with hands-free grilling, strong ventilation and clean tableware, Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a solid pick for group dinners and get-togethers.

Jojo Mullae Branch (죠죠 문래점) is a teppan-style Japanese okonomiyaki restaurant in the alleys of Mullae Art Village in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. After waiting at 6:30pm on a Thursday, the writer got a window seat at Jojo Mullae with the big windows thrown open for an open-air street-bar feel. The writer ate the signature set for two: okonomiyaki, karai yakisoba (spicy stir-fried noodles) swapped in for regular yakisoba, and tonpeiyaki (pork omelet). With good food, atmosphere and friendly staff, Jojo Mullae Branch is a solid date restaurant in Mullae-dong.
