I'm a self-proclaimed jokbal geek.. and today I want to introduce a jokbal place near Bucheon Station that I enjoyed way too much. A spoonful of open-air vibes, crispy-chewy fried jokbal, spicy jokbal and super friendly service: that's Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch~

How close is Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch to Bucheon Station?
It's about a 6–7 minute walk from Exit 2 of Bucheon Station, right in the middle of the busy district. In the center of a street packed with restaurants and bars, you'll find Kkalkkali, whose jokbal is killer.
It's really close to Bucheon Station, so it's perfect for eating and having fun until the last train gets a little nerve-wracking, then heading home~

A group dinner spot near Bucheon Station? The hall and outdoor seats
The restaurant is quite spacious, so it's a great choice for a group dinner near Bucheon Station. The tables are big and clean, which made it easy to order a bit of everything.
There are also several outdoor tables, so you can soak up plenty of open-air atmosphere.

Kkalkkali menu and prices: the chewy half-and-half jokbal set
What I chose at Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch was the chewy half-and-half jokbal set, which comes with the signature fried jokbal and spicy jokbal. It costs ₩38,000 for small and ₩42,000 for medium.
I studied the menu closely! After some agonizing, we went straight for the half-and-half set! Add a side of fruit makguksu (₩8,000) or a rice ball (₩4,000) and you've got the ultimate combo.

Included side dishes and bean sprout soup
As soon as you order, a variety of side dishes, fresh wrap vegetables and a big bowl of cool, spicy bean sprout soup arrive. Everything looked great, but the soup was so refreshing and kick-y that I bet it's killer as a hangover cure too.

Was the jokbal fast, and how was the service?
The half-and-half set, boiled fresh that day with chewy meat, showed up fast!! Food comes out quickly, and the owner of Kkalkkali was so kind that I totally loved it T_T
The set is also a great deal compared with other places, and they even threw in a free fruit makguksu.

The free fruit makguksu: portion and taste
Kkalkkali's free fruit makguksu isn't a token side: it's loaded with all kinds of vegetables and bouncy noodles, so it's really generous. The sweet-spicy sauce and fresh veggies come together for an insane depth of flavor T_T
Grab a piece of jokbal and a big bundle of noodles and slurp them down together and it's pure heaven..

How do the fried and spicy jokbal taste? How hot is it?
Kkalkkali's fried jokbal is crispy outside and chewy, bouncy inside. I wrapped a piece of the springy, tender fried jokbal in lettuce, and the inside is crazy chewy and bouncy, like collagen is being injected straight into your mouth (my skin is going to be so plump).
The spicy jokbal is about as hot as Shin Ramyun, so even someone who can't handle spice can enjoy it, and it's just right. It's spicy with a touch of sweetness, a bit like Buldak, and the seasoning is delicious.

Wrapped or plain? How to eat Kkalkkali jokbal
The jokbal is clean with no gamey smell, and the mix of bouncy skin and tender lean meat is so good that I kept popping pieces in T_T Wrapped in leaves is great, and picking up a piece and eating it with bossam kimchi (kimchi for wraps) or salted shrimp is delicious too~!!
The meat itself is so tasty that just grabbing a piece and eating it was more appealing than wrapping it~ (of course it's good wrapped too)

Open-air vibes indoors? The folding glass window
Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch has outdoor tables, and one wall is a folding glass window, so when it's folded open you get a proper open-air feel even indoors. It's in the center of the Bucheon Station district, so it's also a nice place to enjoy a group dinner late into the night!
If you want really tasty jokbal in a great atmosphere with friendly service, I highly recommend Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch~
