Yours Bake Shop Mokdong Main Branch is a bakery in Mokdong, Yangcheon, Seoul, run by a husband-and-wife baking team who studied bread-making in France. The writer took home the signature egg tart (reportedly more than 8,000 sold a month), a fig campagne and other meal and snack breads, and even a fussy-eating child and a picky husband were happy. Yours Bake Shop is a Mokdong bakery that also ships nationwide and offers a free milk tea with a Naver reservation.

Ilpum Yeouido Branch (일품 여의도점) is a sushi and Japanese rice bowl restaurant on the first basement floor of Anwon Building, near Exit 3 of National Assembly Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. At a weekday lunch, the writer and her husband used table ordering to get salmon sakedon (salmon rice bowl), the day's sushi and a half futomaki (thick sushi roll) as a side, and were very pleased with the seasoned rice, the balance between rice and fish thickness, and how big even the half futomaki was. The verdict: the half futomaki at Ilpum Yeouido Branch is a side well worth adding.

Burger takeout near Yeouido Station for a picky son: Downtowner

Downtowner Yeouido is a handmade burger shop on the ground floor of One Sentinel, near Exit 3 of Yeouido Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. For her son, the writer took home three burgers à la carte (the Downtowner Burger, the Crispy Chicken Burger and the Bulgogi Smash Burger) and says the careful packaging kept every burger in shape. Her picky son finished the Downtowner Burger in no time, making Downtowner Yeouido a very satisfying takeout dinner.

Magok sushi restaurant, futomaki with my husband after Yeouido: Ilpum

Ilpum Magok is a Japanese restaurant serving kaisendon (raw fish rice bowl) and futomaki (thick sushi roll) on Gonghang-daero in Gangseo, Seoul, between Magok Station and Balsan Station. The writer could not forget the taste of the Yeouido branch, so she came to Ilpum Magok with her husband and ordered the premium kaisendon, one roll of Ilpum futomaki and a Hokkaido scallop cream croquette. Verdict: Ilpum Magok carries on the Yeouido branch's taste and suits both dates and family meals.

Go early and Akai Teppan is a roomy, quiet Mullae bar with no wait.

Guro Station family jokbal: spicy jokbal & steamed egg, The Jokbal

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch (더족발 신도림본점) is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and bossam (boiled pork slices) restaurant on the ground floor of the Sindorim 3-cha Prugio apartment shopping arcade, near Guro Station and Sindorim Station in Seoul. For a family meal, the writer ordered the pick-your-own combo set of 3 (spicy jokbal, original jokbal and bossam) with steamed egg and tray makguksu; she liked the original jokbal best, while her husband and son loved the spicy jokbal most. The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch was a family meal spot that pleased everyone at the table.

Gongdeok, Seoul private-room Korean beef dinner with dry-ice box: Usu

Usu (우수) is a Korean beef dining restaurant in a basement unit of the Lotte Castle President shopping arcade, right outside Exit 2 of Gongdeok Station in Mapo, Seoul, where every seat is a private room. The blogger and her husband ordered the Usu Dinner B course: a dry-ice ingredient showing box, beef-and-chicken porridge (ugye jinjuk), beef tartare with gamtae seaweed, abalone five-color gardenia noodles, a 1++ Korean beef grill set and Korean melon sorbet. Usu is a good Gongdeok Station private-room restaurant for couples or families who want a quiet, uninterrupted dinner.

Sinjeong-dong hair salon: 5-step Shiseido dry hair clinic, AVA Hair
