Maetan-dong burger spot, Suwon: back-door parking, wedge fries, 666

666 Burger Main Branch (666버거 본점) is a handmade burger restaurant on the ground floor of a corner unit in a shopping building in Maetan-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. On a rainy day, two people shared the Best Position set (13,000 won) and a Classic Pose burger (8,500 won). The thick patties, soft buns and big wedge fries made it a generous meal. The shopping-building parking lot behind 666 Burger Main Branch leads straight to the back door, which makes driving there easy, and the restaurant also works well for eating alone.

Jungok-dong Korean restaurant: ₩21,000 minari gomtang lunch, Dimideun

Dimideun Gunja is a newly opened Korean gomtang (beef bone soup) restaurant and pub in Jungok-dong, Gwangjin, Seoul, near Gunja Station. After a meeting on a chilly autumn day, the writer had a solo lunch at Dimideun Gunja for ₩21,000: minari beef gomtang (₩15,000) with a sampler suyuk (boiled meat) add-on (₩6,000), and the way fresh minari (Korean water parsley) goes into the rich broth stood out. For a hearty solo Korean meal near Gunja Station, the minari beef gomtang and sampler suyuk combo at Dimideun Gunja is a solid recommendation.

Guui-dong café for decaf latte with shot on the side: Wonz Coffee

Wonz Coffee Children's Grand Park Main Branch is a roastery and hand-drip café in Guui-dong, Gwangjin, Seoul, near Children's Grand Park. On the way to a meeting, the writer tried a decaf latte served with the shot on the side to adjust the strength, a house-made milk tea, an apple cinnamon cookie and a chocolate financier. Even the decaf at Wonz Coffee kept a nutty bean flavor, making it a café coffee lovers will want to revisit.

Jeonju octopus stall: fritters softer than skewers at Munkkocchi

Munkkocchi Mungangjeong Jeonju Hanok Village Branch (문꼬치문강정 전주한옥마을점) is an octopus skewer and octopus gangjeong (crispy fried, glazed bites) shop on Eunhaeng-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village, known for soft octopus. The writer, an octopus lover, tried the katsuo octopus skewer, cheese octopus skewer and katsuo octopus gangjeong, and found that the skewers were not chewy, but the fried katsuo octopus gangjeong was even softer. For anyone who loves octopus, Munkkocchi Mungangjeong is a strongly recommended snack stop in Jeonju Hanok Village.
