Today I'm introducing a new café near Hapjeong Station that my friend and I visited recently. It's been getting buzz for its very unusual, one-of-a-kind concept.

It's Chimney Mansion, a Hongdae/Hapjeong chimney bread bakery café! I'd walked past and loved the look of the exterior and always wanted to go in, so my wish finally came true. 🤣

Chimney bread is an unusual dessert where dough is wrapped around a wooden rod and baked in the oven, and here you get it in a warm, fairy-tale-like space. If you're looking for a quirky Hongdae café, Chimney Mansion is a perfect choice!
Chimney Mansion location and opening hours
The address of Chimney Mansion is 14 Jandari-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It's open Monday to Friday from 11 am to 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 9 pm.
What are the interior and atmosphere of Chimney Mansion like?

Chimney Mansion is a Hapjeong dessert café with a very cute brand story: the tale of a chimney sweep family that brings 🍀good luck, woven throughout the interior.

The interior feels like a chimney sweep might show up any moment to clean the chimney. So unique, right? 🥰

A converted house split across two floors
The café is a spacious, large converted-house style across the first and second floors. You pass through the cozy first floor, which holds the history of the chimney sweep family, then climb the stairs to the second floor, which has the feel of a place where the family does the laundry and relaxes in comfort.

Warm wood tones and brick, big group tables, a lovely terrace, and even private room-style seats~ It looked perfect for a weekend date or a get-together with friends.

Some chimney breads come filled
Because of how it's made, chimney bread is usually hollow in the middle,

but at Chimney Mansion some are filled with things like ham, cream or egg, so you can try many different kinds.

The cozy mood felt like being in a European family home, and I wanted to sit there for a long time, so we ordered one drink and one chimney bread each 💓
How do the signature Chimney Coffee and cold-brew milk tea taste?
When I visit a café I usually check whether it has a signature drink, and Chimney Mansion's signature is Chimney Coffee, served with pepper.

Chimney Coffee: pepper on top of cream
Chimney Coffee carries the whole identity of Chimney Mansion. Ground pepper is sprinkled over sweet, smooth cream, and surprisingly it works! It also gives you that "ah-ah-ah-CHOO!" feeling of cleaning a chimney, which I loved 😆

One bite of chimney bread, one sip of Chimney Coffee, and you can keep eating chimney bread endlessly. Such a charming coffee!

Cold-brew milk tea: subtle black tea and bergamot
I also ordered the cold-brew milk tea, with a gentle black tea aroma. It isn't too sweet and has a slight bergamot oil scent, a fragrant milk tea.

It blends smoothly with the warm-baked dessert, so if you don't drink coffee much, I strongly recommend this milk tea.
Chimney Mansion chimney breads: Peanuts House and Melon Turtle
I looked up reviews online beforehand and ordered one safe choice and one that grabs your eye with its looks.

Peanuts House
Peanuts House is a chimney bread loaded with nutty roasted peanuts and dark chocolate. The crushed peanuts on the outside crunch and taste super nutty with every bite!

Since the inside is hollow, it isn't intensely sweet, and you can really taste the bittersweet dark chocolate and the nuttiness of the peanuts.

Melon Turtle (Turtle Melone)
Melon Turtle was so cute I just had to put it on my tray! A cute turtle-shaped melon cookie sits on top of the chimney bread, and inside it's filled with sweet, fragrant melon cream. The cream tastes kind of like a Melona bar? If you like Melona, I recommend it!
Chimney Mansion overall review and visit tips
I liked that Hapjeong's Chimney Mansion is a quirky space full of the charming story of a chimney sweep family. The toppings on the chimney bread are also very varied, so picking what suits your taste should be fun.
- The building is quite big but there aren't as many seats as you'd expect, so it's better to arrive a little before the busy hours and grab a spot.
- Seats are spaced widely and there are comfy sofa seats, so it's also nice for a cozy date.
Come visit Chimney Mansion, the chimney bread bakery and quirky Hongdae café where you can enjoy heartfelt desserts in a fairy-tale atmosphere!
