Hongdae Thai meetup: shared kai yang and brisket pho, Saeng Augustine

Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is a Thai and Asian restaurant on the B1 floor of Mecenatpolis at Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. Two friends shared kai yang (Thai grilled chicken), nasi goreng (fried rice), Vietnamese pho with thin-sliced beef brisket and a grapefruit ade, covering meat, rice, noodles and a drink, and the spacious hall with roomy table spacing made the meal comfortable. Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is a good meetup spot for groups who want to share dishes around Hapjeong and Hongdae.

Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store (희올헤어 강남본점) is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of the Gangnam Station junction building, near Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6 in Gangnam, Seoul. After a consultation with designer Geunyoung, the writer's thick, slightly layered, semi-wavy long hair got a layered hush perm (cut, perm, root perm and root magic straightening) mixing C-curls at the bottom with S-curls on top, and the result was natural waves that look curling-iron styled. Verdict: Heeol Hair's layered hush perm suits anyone who wants an easy daily perm whose curls come back with simple air-drying at home.

Dongdaemun group restaurant for Boknal chicken hot pot: Sunhuine

Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun is a Korean restaurant with about 200 seats over two floors in the Dongdaemun chicken hot pot alley near Jongno 5-ga Station, Seoul. For a Boknal (summer dog-days) lunch, our group shared dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot), a large yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl), a meat mung bean pancake and oksam bulgogi (spicy squid and pork stir-fry); the clear, deep chicken broth and the spicy oksam bulgogi were the highlights. Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dongdaemun is a great Dongdaemun Market restaurant for groups who want to share a spread of Korean dishes.
