Yongsan tteokbokki spot with squiggly fish cake combo: Hyeonseonine
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a longtime bunsik (Korean street food) restaurant on Hangangdae-ro 39-gil in Yongsan, Seoul, with a yellow-chimney building marking the entrance. Two diners shared the Hyeonseonine combo set with squiggly fish cake (kkobuli odeng), mild tteokbokki, five kinds of fritters, mini gimbap and handmade sundae (blood sausage), asking for only a little liver in the organ mix. The clear, barely peppery fish cake broth and crisply fried fritters made the set easy going even for spice-shy eaters.
