Korean BBQ in Mulgeum, Yangsan with non-alcoholic highball: Anmin

Anmin Yangsan is a pork BBQ restaurant on Hwahap-gil in Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan, Gyeongnam. Already happy with Anmin in Changwon, the writer visited the Mulgeum branch on a trip to Yangsan and ordered the half-pig set, a non-alcoholic highball, steamed egg and soft tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae). Staff grilled all the meat, and low-hanging vents meant almost no smell stuck to clothes. Verdict: Anmin Yangsan lived up to expectations at another branch, with everything done perfectly.

Teuwaetmoa (트와엣모아) is a vintage, antique-style French toast café in Sodap-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon, right behind the Uichang Happiness Self-Governance Center. On a day of passing showers, the writer returned to Teuwaetmoa with a friend and ordered the classic French toast, a matcha latte, a hot Americano and a latte, and the friend, visiting for the first time, immediately understood why people seek out Teuwaetmoa's French toast. Verdict: Teuwaetmoa is a Changwon café with great vibes that has kept its original charm for years.

Jeonju dakgangjeong takeout ready during a cathedral stroll: Mannyeon

Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is a delivery and takeout-only dakgangjeong (sweet, crispy fried chicken) shop on Taejo-ro, the main street of Jeonju Hanok Village. On a family trip, we ordered a soy and spicy half-and-half box, walked down to Jeondong Cathedral just below, and came back to find it already packed; eaten later at our lodging, the chicken was still chewy and crisp, not soggy, and the portion was big enough for a family of four. Mannyeon Dakgangjeong is a safe pick for a Jeonju Hanok Village snack with kids or a late-night bite back at your lodging.

Famous Venny Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is a brunch café on basement level 1 of Building BK at Oslo Park in Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan. It uses Dukes coffee beans and opens every day at 8am. Masan Korean set meal with husband, extra grilled fish: Yun Sikdang

Yun Sikdang (윤식당) is a Korean set meal restaurant on Bukseong-ro in Masanhappo-gu, Masan, Changwon, serving a single menu: the grilled bulgogi set. With its smoky grilled bulgogi and neat side dishes, Yun Sikdang is a Masan Korean restaurant worth recommending for a meal with your parents.

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch (뼈대있는해장국 주촌점) is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) and haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant near Costco in Juchon-myeon, Gimhae. After a Costco run, three people shared a 3-serving gamjatang topped with fern and ugeoji (dried cabbage leaves) plus pot rice, and found the meat so plentiful and the portion so generous that four people could have eaten well. Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch is a good spot for a filling meal before or after shopping at Costco.

Jangyu kalguksu with sesame salt on the table: Seosan Dongjuk

Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is a single-menu Korean restaurant on Deokjeong-ro 201beon-gil in Jangyu, Gimhae, serving only dongjuk clam kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup). Arriving right at the 10 AM opening on a rainy morning still meant a wait, and the clam-packed kalguksu for two came with a seafood pancake dipped in soy, wasabi, and chojang (vinegared chili sauce). The pepper and roasted sesame salt on the table turn the broth into a second flavor, and Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is worth returning to the moment you leave.
