Gijang restaurant after IKEA: curry self-bar dinner for three, Dongam

Dongam Tteokgalbi is a tteokgalbi (grilled minced beef patty) set-meal restaurant on Gijanghaean-ro in Gijang, Busan, a 4-minute drive from IKEA Dongbusan and Lotte Outlet. After shopping, three people ordered the Dongam Tteokgalbi Set for dinner and worked through pot rice, crab doenjang stew and an unlimited self-bar of curry, hand-made tofu and stir-fried kimchi. At 15,000 won per person for pot rice, tteokgalbi and the self-bar, Dongam Tteokgalbi is a family dinner spot worth returning to.

Gimhae gamjatang restaurant, holiday lunch small pot: Ppyeodae Itneun

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch is a gamjatang (pork bone soup) and haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant on Seobu-ro 1637beon-gil in Juchon-myeon, Gimhae, Gyeongnam. On a second visit at noon on a public holiday, the small gamjatang (35,000 won) came with unlimited ramen noodle refills and was generous enough for three people, with meat that slid off the bone easily. A large parking lot, a 6am opening and government voucher payment make Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk a place worth coming back to.

Gimhae grill house with a 7-party wait at 6pm: Wondaepo Sogalbisal

Wondaepo Sogalbisal is a charcoal-grilled beef short rib restaurant on Pyeongjeon-ro in Gimhae, Gyeongnam. Arriving at 6pm, I took the last free table and ordered a full plate of marinated short rib (500g, 35,000 won) plus an extra half plate (250g, 18,000 won), with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and a bowl of rice. There is no parking lot, but the juicy meat and the house-made marinade at Wondaepo Sogalbisal make it a 20000% return visit.
