naengmyeon naengmyeon naengmyeon~~~~ nope!! Milmyeon milmyeon milmyeon!! That's it~~~~!! 🤗 Milmyeon started in Busan so it's a Gyeongsang region food~~~ and Ulsan has quite a few milmyeon spots too! Today I'll introduce one of them!! A really popular one!

How close is it to Ulsan Express Bus Terminal?

Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch is a milmyeon restaurant located in Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, near the Ulsan Express Bus Terminal and Lotte Department Store. Being close to the terminal makes it easy to reach, and since parking is available too, it's no trouble to drive there.

Ulsan has so many milmyeon specialty places! And a few famous ones among them! But the names are all so similar,, easy to mix up,,, so people tend to refer to them by location instead? The place I'm introducing today is the milmyeon spot near Ulsan Terminal! Easy to access being near the terminal and Lotte Department Store! And most importantly, parking is possible too, which is so great!! This is also a super long-running restaurant, so anyone from Ulsan couldn't not know it!

Where do you park, and how does the stamp work?

Parking for Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch is at the large open lot in front of the restaurant — take a parking ticket and get it stamped for validation. The two usable lots are Daekyung Parking and Paldo Parking.

The parking lot here is so huge I've never seen it full ~~!! Everyone floods out for lunch so parking is usually a war zone~ but here there's no need to worry! 🙅🏻‍♀️

Full house at lunch — how long is the wait?

Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch was already completely full when I arrived at lunchtime, and I barely got the last open seat. Still, milmyeon has a fast table turnover, so even with a wait, it doesn't take long.

I visited during lunch and, can you feel it,,, the aura of a good restaurant! Already full. Da-dun!! 🫢 Once you come through the entrance there are seats on both sides, and the right side requires taking off your shoes to go up ~! Used to be floor seating over there, now it's changed!

I barely got one open seat, and after that a long wait built up! But milmyeon turns tables fast, eating quickly and leaving quickly, so even waiting doesn't take long~~! That's the beauty of milmyeon! ✅

Menu and prices at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch

The menu at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch has only three items: water milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, and dumplings. Water milmyeon and bibim milmyeon are 9,000 won each, and dumplings are 6,000 won.

You order and pay at once through the tablet at each table! Payment's already done so you just eat and walk right out~~!! That's probably why the turnover feels so fast~~!

After ordering, pickled radish and radish came out first ~!

The staff were so busy,, in summer milmyeon probably outsells naengmyeon in Ulsan by far,,,! 🔥

Water milmyeon and bibim milmyeon: what did splitting them taste like?

At Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch, my friend and I ordered one water milmyeon and one bibim milmyeon to split. The water milmyeon had a tangy broth with noodles that were soft yet chewy, and the bibim milmyeon — which I tried for the first time this year — tasted sweet and tangy like jjolmyeon (chewy noodles).

I ordered both so I could try a variety! Water milmyeon and bibim milmyeon! Splitting them~~~~~!

You're supposed to eat milmyeon without cutting the noodles, but today I cut it in half,, haha, had to share it with my friend so no choice,,,

Want a bite of this cool water milmyeon~? Eating this just blows all the heat away! The broth's tangy, and the noodles are soft and chewy!! I'm not just saying this because I'm from Gyeongsang, I'm genuinely team milmyeon over naengmyeon!!! 💟

And honestly, this was my first time trying bibim milmyeon this year! It looks like bibim guksu, kind of like jjolmyeon too, but anyway this was also delicious? Sweet and tangy, great for waking up the appetite!! 💟

Are the dumplings worth ordering too?

The 6,000 won dumplings at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch had such chewy skins I actually considered ordering another plate. The handmade texture of the dumpling skin was especially good.

And honestly the dumplings here are insane,,!! They really seem handmade, and the dumpling skin is so chewy chewy! I seriously debated ordering one more plate but had to pass since I had a café to go to,,, anyway the dumplings were amazing too! And the milmyeon — well, obviously delicious since it's a famous Ulsan spot, and the bibim was delicious too!!! A satisfying meal overall~!! Easy to get to near the terminal, so if you're visiting Ulsan or sightseeing, definitely stop by!! Once you fall for milmyeon, you'll start craving it the moment summer rolls around ~~ hahaha
