Saechamjip is a Korean bar (hoesik-style pochana) in the Gunja Station food alley in Gwangjin, Seoul. Two of us ordered the 48-hour boiled baekmuk-eunji bone grill on a hot stone plate and the gabri gimchi jjigae (pork belly kimchi stew) simmered with lard oil, covering both drinks and dinner in one sitting. It's a solid pick for groups who don't want a bar where the food is an afterthought.
Jojomomo is a Korean cooking bar (hansik yori jujeom) on the basement floor of the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul, near Jamsil. The gochujang pork stew, priced at 25,000 won, comes with 400g of pork and zucchini simmered in a spicy red-pepper-paste broth, served in a calm space with antique furniture, big speakers, a bar counter and a range of traditional Korean liquors. Jojomomo is worth remembering for a night when you want a hearty broth dish and an easy conversation over drinks.
