Relocated gamjatang restaurant in Jorye-dong, Suncheon: Namdareun
In short
Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) and hangover soup restaurant on Baegyeon-gil in Jorye-dong, Suncheon. The restaurant has moved just next door to a smaller but still spotless space, and the old kids' play room is gone; a family visit here brought the small Namdareun bone hot pot at 32,000 won, the handmade boneless pork cutlet at 11,000 won, free ramen noodles and a broth refill. Quieter and cozier than before, Namdareun Gamjatang works just as well for a family meal as for drinks.

I finally made it back to Namdareun Gamjatang, my go-to Jorye-dong hangover soup spot with its spicy, tangy broth and generous chunks of pork bone meat. Turns out they'd moved slightly sideways from their original spot! The place is a bit smaller now, but still clean and delicious!

The move next door: what changed, and where the kids' play room went
Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch has moved slightly sideways from its original spot.
I loved that kids' room! It's gone now! T_T
The kids' room may be gone, but there's an upside too — no more chaotic energy from little ones running around, and the place now feels calm and cozy instead.
Plenty of parking too, both in front of the restaurant and beside it.

Namdareun Gamjatang's signature giant figure is still there too!

Clean, bright atmosphere, comfortable for dining. Walking in from the entrance, the left and right sides feel slightly separated. It's quite spacious!
The tables are wide too, so it's easy to eat comfortably.

Proof it's a good restaurant! The spicy, tangy broth and thick, tender pork bone meat are marks of a certified Jorye-dong hangover soup spot.

Why the bone hot pot beats a single serving of hangover soup
When there are two of us, I always debate whether to each get the solo hangover soup or share the namdareun bone hot pot. Haha. This time I went with the hot pot so I could add sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) and noodles, and stir-fry rice at the end!
At a gamjatang (pork bone stew) restaurant, the kimchi side dish matters most.
The seokbakji (diced radish kimchi) here is the real deal. Sweet, refreshing, pass!! When the kimchi is this good, there's no way the main dish is bad!

The other side dishes were tasty too. Basic sides that pair well with pork bone hangover soup!
How much food is in the small bone hot pot for 32,000 won?
The small namdareun bone hot pot. Super generous.
Piled high with mushrooms and perilla leaves too.

So much siraegi (dried radish greens) in there too~

The pork bones come already fully cooked, so once the broth starts boiling you can dig in — they're already tender from being pre-boiled, so it was really soft and delicious.

I notice this every time I come to Namdareun Gamjatang — the meat clinging to the bones is really substantial.

Self-serve side dishes, sujebi dough flakes and the mustard sauce
Side dishes are self-serve~ Even the sides at the self-serve bar are clean and fresh.

I always thought it was pork spine, but the menu description says they use pork neck bones! Anyway, that explains why the meat here is softer and more generous than other gamjatang places~
The broth is a patented recipe famous for curing hangovers — spicy and refreshing, I kept going back for more.
Dipping it into the special mustard sauce? Amazing~ This is exactly why I keep coming back to Namdareun Gamjatang in Jorye-dong whenever I want pork bone hangover soup! So good~

Oh, one tip! Grab extra sujebi from the self-serve bar right away~ Scooping it up with the broth is delicious~

The kids' order: handmade boneless pork cutlet, 11,000 won
Since I came with the kids, they ordered pork cutlet for themselves.

Two thick, tender pieces of pork cutlet arrived.

The kids enjoyed the cutlet, and they also kept asking for more of the meat off the braised bones. Haha.

Finishing with free ramen noodles and a broth refill
Ramen noodles are free with the hot pot! We ordered them along with some extra broth since we were running low.

Added the extra broth and put in the ramen noodles.

Seriously so good. T_T

Even full, there's always room. I wanted to try the fried rice too, but it requires 2+ people to order and I was way too full!
Is Namdareun Gamjatang better for a family meal or for drinks?
I visited for a meal with the kids this time, but it also looks like a fantastic spot for slowly sipping a drink while ordering extra broth and ramen noodles as a bar snack. With its thick, tender meat and amazing broth, Namdareun Gamjatang is a place I come back to often with the kids too — it works great as a full meal! For the best hangover soup in Jorye-dong, Suncheon, I recommend Namdareun Gamjatang.^^
