Dine-in nacho bar for a date in Mangwon, Seoul: Macho Nacho
In short
Macho Nacho is a nacho bar on Huiujeong-ro in Mapo, Seoul, right in front of Mangwon Hangang Park. On a Saturday afternoon date, the writer ate a late first meal of the day at Macho Nacho, ordering the Signature Nacho (₩13,900) and the Pepperoni Pizza Nacho (₩15,900); the two nachos tasted clearly different and both portions were generous. Macho Nacho is a Mangwon nacho spot that works for a date as a dine-in meal, not just for takeout.

Why we chose Macho Nacho for a late first meal on a Saturday date
Today is Saturday, haha. The weather wasn't amazing, but it felt like a shame not to go out on a date, so we decided to head to charming Mangwon! I'd slept in and hadn't eaten anything by 4 p.m., so I was seriously hungry and started searching for Mangwon restaurants right away. Macho Nacho, a highly rated nacho place, came up, so we decided to give it a try.
How to get to Macho Nacho, and where to park
Macho Nacho is right next to Mangwon Hangang Park, and it's about a 15-minute walk from Mangwon Station or Mapo-gu Office Station on Line 6. It would be nice to visit as a stroll.
If you're coming by car, the Mapo-gu Citizens' Sports Center public parking lot or Mangwon Hangang Park public lots 1 and 2 are cheap (₩2,400 per hour) and easy to park in!
Macho Nacho exterior and interior atmosphere

True to a bar in charming Mangwon, Macho Nacho is decorated with red brick and simple white frames, haha. A sign said they also sell Asahi Super Dry draft beer, and if I hadn't driven, I would have ordered one right away!

We got there around 4:30 p.m., and the sun hits the spot at just the right angle for photos, so the pictures came out extra atmospheric.
Is Macho Nacho takeout only, or can you dine in?
You can eat inside Macho Nacho. Many people take nachos to the Han River park, so I assumed it was takeout only, but dining in was possible, haha. It's cutely and prettily decorated, which made it great for a date.

The kitchen was kept clean too, and since it's an open kitchen you can watch the owner cook, so sight, smell and taste are all satisfied.

How many seats does Macho Nacho have?
The shop has one table for four and three tables for two, so it seems especially good for couples. They also display the country-of-origin sign where it's easy to see, which boosts trust in the ingredients!
Macho Nacho menu and what we ordered

- Signature Nacho ₩13,900
- Pepperoni Pizza Nacho ₩15,900
- Zero Cola ₩2,000 x2
I'd only ever had nachos as bar snacks, never at a place that specializes in them, so I agonized over what to order. The Signature Nacho seemed like the basic choice, so we went with that, and since I personally like pepperoni, we also ordered the Pepperoni Pizza Nacho. For drinks, I'd absolutely have had draft beer if I hadn't brought the car, but since I did, I went with Zero Cola.
Zero Cola for ₩2,000
The Zero Cola came out first, haha. They also give you a glass packed with ice, so we could drink it nice and cold. A thoughtful touch in this hot summer weather!
What does Macho Nacho's Signature Nacho taste like?

Everything had come out, and we decided to taste the Signature Nacho first, since it looked like the most basic one, haha.

The Signature Nacho is known for its bacon and cheese, and the smell of bacon while it was being cooked in the kitchen was amazing, so my mouth started watering right away.
The owner told us the tastiest way to eat it is to break it up with a spoon and mix it together, like this.

Jalapeños, onion, tomato, bacon, nachos and cheese torched once with a blowtorch were all mixed together. The texture was crunchy with no sogginess, and thanks to the moderately salty tomato sauce, the bacon, the slightly sweet onion and the jalapeños adding a little heat, it was a clean-tasting nacho, not greasy or overly strong.
How is Macho Nacho's Pepperoni Pizza Nacho different from the Signature Nacho?

Next up was the Pepperoni Pizza Nacho, haha.

The Pepperoni Pizza Nacho has plenty of pepperoni and twice as much cheese as the Signature Nacho, so it was richer and the pepperoni pizza flavor came through strongly, haha. I thought all nachos would taste about the same, but it was definitely different from the Signature Nacho.
If you want a lighter nacho, order the Signature Nacho; if you'd like a saltier nacho with cheese, go for the pepperoni, haha.

We cleaned out both nachos completely, haha. I'd worried a little about whether we'd get full, but the portions were big and we left totally stuffed.
Macho Nacho: final verdict
Macho Nacho is a nacho spot we stumbled on by chance while out on a date in Mangwon. There are lots of public parking lots nearby, so cheap parking was easy, and with Mangwon Hangang Park so close, it also looks great for takeout with a beer when the weather's nice.
I couldn't have draft beer today because I'd brought the car, but it's not a bad place to reach by subway either, so next time I'll definitely come by public transport. If you're visiting Mangwon Hangang Park and looking for picnic food, or searching for a bar in Mangwon, Macho Nacho is worth a visit.
