Looking for a thank-you bread gift in Mangwon? Boulangerie Copain
I bought bread at Boulangerie Copain (블랑제리코팡) in Mangwon as a gift for a pastor's wife I'm really grateful to. I was near Mangwon-dong not long ago, and she popped into my head. I'd wanted to show her my appreciation for ages, so I went on a proper bread-shopping spree! I wasn't sure what to get, so I headed to Boulangerie Copain, a bakery that's a must-stop on any Mangwon bread tour 🥖

The taste is a given, and the breads look so elegant that this place is honestly perfect for gifts, with no hit-or-miss risk! I even got a thank-you message back, which made me so proud. Let me share this little gem of a story.
What kind of bakery is Boulangerie Copain?
Boulangerie Copain is one of Mangwon's best-known bakeries, known for TV appearances like Master of Living (생활의 달인) and a Blue Ribbon listing. The place is full of the smell of toasty bread, with a wide range of pastries and baked goods.

Boulangerie Copain storefront and interior
Boulangerie Copain has a very French-feeling exterior, and inside it's full of the smell of fresh-baked bread ✨ As you walk down the Huiujeong-ro alley in Mangwon-dong, the neat French-style typography on the glass and a pretty bicycle out front catch your eye right away!

The moment I opened the automatic door and stepped in, the rich, toasty smell of fresh-baked butter completely won me over. Inside, a Marshall speaker and stylish framed plants make it feel cozy, like a neighborhood bakery in a small European town.

What stood out most was the big frame on the wall: "Master of Living – Master of Baguettes and Croissants"! It's a place proven enough to be on SBS's Master of Living, so my expectations shot up before I'd even picked a single bread.
