Yeonnam-dong study café open till 10pm: bean cards, Central Site

It's the perfect season for a cup of coffee while watching the leaves fall one by one. I'm pretty into hand drip coffee, but I'm not skilled enough to brew it myself, and I know I'd get bored of the equipment before long, so I visit hand drip bars regularly instead.

I found a hand drip café in Yeonnam that's easy to drop into, and I want to introduce it to you. It has a wide range of beans, and above all, the tiramisu here is seriously good. It's Central Site Yeonnam (센트럴사이트 연남점). It's quiet with a great atmosphere, so I highly recommend it as a study café near Hongdae too.

Central Site Yeonnam hours and location

Central Site Yeonnam is at 29-1 Yeonhui-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It's open 08:00–22:00 (from 08:30 on weekends) with no days off. From Hongik Univ. Station, just follow the main road toward Yeonnam-dong, and it takes about 10 minutes on foot.

It sits right on the main road, and the exterior looks so cool that it's worth a glance as you walk past. Central Site Yeonnam is open until 10pm, so the hours are generous, and I often drop in for evening plans with friends.

Inside Central Site Yeonnam and the bean smelling

On the 1st floor of Central Site Yeonnam there's the counter and the coffee drip bar, and the 2nd and 3rd floors are seating halls.

The staff let you smell the hand drip beans yourself and you can watch the brewing too, so even though you came for coffee, it feels a bit like a field trip. Every time I introduce it to friends they give it a thumbs up, which makes me really happy.

Today again they had me smell the beans one by one, and as they brewed I could smell the beans before they touched water and the coffee right after it was brewed.

The menu at Central Site Yeonnam lists a wide variety of hand drip beans. Even though it's hand drip, you can have it iced, and there are even iced-only menu items.

Central Site Yeonnam uses good beans whose names almost everyone would recognize. I recently became the person in charge of beans at my company and keep buying them, so I can tell these are quality beans, each in a price range that's not to be taken lightly.

I couldn't skip the classic tiramisu, so I ordered one. Next time I want to try the Mont Blanc.

Is Central Site Yeonnam good for studying at a café?

At Central Site Yeonnam, the staff bring your coffee and dessert right to your seat after you order, and the 2nd and 3rd floor halls are quiet, so it's good for reading or light studying.

It's a 2nd and 3rd floor café, so I worried a bit about my knees, but having it brought to me is so convenient... The atmosphere is wonderful, from the lighting to the props. Some people were reading on one side and others were studying lightly on the other. It's perfect for enjoying coffee quietly! And you don't feel self-conscious about chatting either.

The bean card served with your coffee

At Central Site Yeonnam, they bring a bean card along with the coffee like this, so while drinking you know exactly what coffee you're having, and my understanding of the coffee's flavor went up.

If you come with a friend who loves coffee, this alone gives you something to chat about, which is great.

I picked from the iced-only menu and my friend chose a nice warm one. When we each drank ours while looking at the bean cards we were given, we found ourselves nodding along.

How is the classic tiramisu at Central Site Yeonnam?

The classic tiramisu at Central Site Yeonnam has sheets soaked moist, so the coffee flavor comes through really strong. I like the sheets properly soaked, and how good do you think tiramisu from a drip coffee specialist is?

I've had the Mont Blanc version before, and it was really delicious back then. Autumn is chestnut season, so I highly recommend it to everyone!
