Solsot Sangam Branch is a well-known lunch spot in Sangam. I've been to other Solsot branches a few times, but this was my first visit to the Sangam one.

Solsot Sangam Branch atmosphere: good for solo meals and team dinners?
The inside was bigger than I expected. The tables aren't cramped and the whole place feels clean. Eating alone was totally doable, and with group seating it looks fine for a casual company dinner too.

Solsot Sangam pot rice menu and what we ordered
Solsot Sangam Branch has plenty of pot rice (solbap) options: steak, sea bream and scallop, freshwater eel, salmon, abalone, boneless hairtail, pork with bracken, cheese dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), cockle and more. There are seasonal menus too, so give them a try~
This day we ordered the boneless hairtail pot rice (₩17,000), the abalone pot rice (₩20,900), plus fried shrimp and a Coke Zero.

The side menu is varied and there are dishes just for little kids, so Solsot Sangam Branch works well for a family meal.

It was so hot out, and that first sip of Coke Zero, ahh. It settled my stomach, so the pot rice tasted even better.

How does Solsot's abalone pot rice (₩20,900) taste?
The abalone pot rice at Solsot Sangam Branch comes piled high with abalone and other toppings, with a nutty aroma wafting up. The amount of abalone is huge, so every bite is full of it ~.~

The abalone was fresh, chewy without being tough. Mixed with the rice, it was insanely good.

The abalone pot rice is seasoned already, but if it's not enough you can add the sauce that comes with the side dishes.

Is Solsot's boneless hairtail pot rice (₩17,000) really bone-free?
As the name says, the hairtail pot rice at Solsot Sangam Branch is boneless, so there's no need to pick out bones and it's easy to eat. Deboning is the most annoying part of eating fish, and that worry is gone here.

There was really plenty of hairtail on top, and it was tender and tasty.

Maybe because of the hairtail's saltiness, I kept eating it with the rice nonstop. Hairtail is great anytime. It's been a while since I got to eat my fill of it.
Side dishes served with the Solsot pot rice set

The side dishes don't differ much between pot rice menus. Kimchi and salted seafood (jeotgal) are standard, and the sauce varies a little by dish. Soup and salad come with every set. The salad was crunchy and good.

Seaweed and warm water also come out, and you need them for the nurungji (scorched rice).

Side order: fried shrimp
I ordered fried shrimp as a side at Solsot Sangam Branch. The pot rice alone was plenty, but the fried shrimp at the next table looked so good that I ordered it. The batter was crispy and the shrimp plump, a side that's tasty without feeling heavy!
How to eat pot rice nurungji (scorched rice) in broth
The reason to eat pot rice = nurungji. First, scoop the rice out of the pot into a bowl, then pour warm broth into the pot and put the lid on.

By the time you finish the rice, the nurungji is ready, and it's seriously so good;;;; I was about to burst, but I scraped up every last bit of it.

Finish with a yogurt drink and you're nicely full.
Is Solsot Sangam Branch worth it for lunch in Sangam?
There are surprisingly few lunch options in Sangam, and Solsot Sangam Branch has a wide range of pot rice for a filling, good-value meal! The staff were kind and the building is clean. By the way, the restroom is the building's restroom and it's really spotless;; With free parking and free corkage, I recommend Solsot Sangam Branch if you're looking for a lunch in Sangam😀
