Danyang market bakery, garlic bread from beer to brunch: Danppang

Danppang Bakery (단빵제빵소) is a garlic bread bakery inside Gugyeong Market in Danyang-eup, Danyang, Chungbuk. Five friends bought two 4-flavor Danppang Bakery sets (cream, black garlic cream cheese, sweet potato and baguette) as snacks for their stay and shared them over 2 nights, as beer snacks and as a coffee brunch the next morning. The line at Danppang Bakery is long but moves quickly, and the garlic bread worked as a drinking snack, an anytime treat and breakfast.

Danyang market fried chicken with friends: 45-min Saturday wait

Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong is a dakgangjeong (sweet glazed fried chicken) shop inside Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk, made with Danyang's local black garlic and nurungji (scorched rice). On a trip with friends, the writer came back for a second visit, ordered the Original around 4 p.m. on a Saturday and picked it up about 45 minutes later for dinner; the crispy coating, sauce-soaked nurungji and radish pickles all hit the spot. Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong is Gugyeong Market's signature fried chicken, worth ordering the moment you arrive at the market.

Danyang bakery, back two days straight: Black Garlic Salt Bread

Black Garlic Salt Bread is a salt bread bakery at the end of the Gugyeong Market alley in Danyang, Chungbuk, and it reportedly uses black garlic extract aged in-house from Danyang garlic. The writer first stopped by Black Garlic Salt Bread with a friend and got a free ice cream through a review event, then came back the next day for an Original and Set 2 because the salt bread was hard to forget. Black Garlic Salt Bread breaks the idea that all salt bread tastes the same; the bread itself is the reason to visit Danyang's Gugyeong Market.

Oranda gift shop in Jeju's Dongmun Market: friends-trip haul to Seoul

Cheongchuni Oranda Dongmun Market Main Branch Tapdong is a souvenir shop near Gates 2 and 9 of Dongmun Market in Jeju that makes and sells its own oranda (sweet puffed-rice snack) and yuzu gwajul. On a Jeju trip with friends, the owner of Cheongchuni Oranda offered tastings first, and the writer bought a four-flavor oranda gift set: yuzu (original), nuts, manong (garlic) and gamtae (seaweed). The boxed set rode in a suitcase all the way to Seoul without breaking, making it an easy Jeju Dongmun Market souvenir to share.
