Hapjeong hair salon long-hair J-curl perm for a round face: Pieum Hair

It's been so long since I last went to a hair salon! There's a salon near Hapjeong Station, where I hang out a lot, that's good with women's hair, so I booked through Naver and visited Pieum Hair Hapjeong Main Branch.

Where is Pieum Hair Hapjeong Main Branch?

Pieum Hair Hapjeong Main Branch is really close to Exit 7 of Hapjeong Station, so it's easy to get to. The credentials posted at the entrance made me look forward to it even more and trust the place. I booked the head stylist (siljang) who gave a calm, comfortable impression!!

Inside Pieum Hair Hapjeong Main Branch

The counter you see as soon as you walk in displays a master hairdresser certification plaque and lots of dye samples. If you want to dye your hair, I think you'd have a wide range of colors to choose from at Pieum Hair.

And there's a cute doggie too! 🐶 I kept watching it during my treatment and it was so adorable and lovable ♥

The salon is neither small nor big. There's a separate area for makeup, and it's a neat, well-kept salon.

Even though there are many salons around Hapjeong Station, Pieum Hair had booked customers coming in steadily hour after hour 👍

Pieum Hair Hapjeong Main Branch also has a detailed price list registered on Naver, so I liked how transparent the pricing seemed. Besides cuts, perms and dyeing, they do blow-dry, shampoo and daily/wedding-guest makeup, so it could be good for anyone near Hapjeong looking for makeup on an important day like a wedding.

Before the treatment: long hair left alone for 18 months

My hair before the treatment was... 🤭 totally unmanaged, just long, long hair!!! 🥲 I usually wear a hat or tie it up, so I never cared much about styling.

Then one day, after growing it out with no plan, I looked in the mirror and suddenly looked like a ghost from a Korean horror movie (?), so I wanted a new style. Apart from trims, it was my first change in almost 18 months, so I was excited before I even went in!! I stored my coat in a cabinet inside the salon, put on a gown and sat in front of the mirror.

Why the stylist recommended a J-curl perm instead of a straight perm

The style I wanted was a calm straight perm (magic straight), but after looking at my face shape and hair condition, the head stylist recommended a J-curl perm. I trusted her and decided to go with the J-curl. The length had to be tidied before the perm, so she started with a cut, and even with just the cut I already felt pampered 😄

After the cut, the hair setting for the J-curl perm began in earnest!!

Midway she offered me a drink, so I had a glass of cold green tea haha

A relaxed session even for customers who dislike making small talk

The reason I rarely go to salons is that just sitting there is so, so boring, and it's uncomfortable when a stranger keeps talking to me 🥲 The head stylist at Pieum Hair picked up on my personality right away and only talked when needed. She even brought me a cushion so I could use my phone comfortably (?) throughout the treatment, lol

How long the J-curl perm took and the result

Before I knew it, 2 hours had passed and the cut and J-curl perm were done!!! Afterward she explained carefully how to care for my bangs, which I really appreciated 😄

My face is on the round side, so a J-curl perm, which looks natural and is easy to manage, looked much better on me than a straight perm.

Both my head stylist and the designer who was there at the same time were kind and styled me in a way that suits me, so Pieum Hair Hapjeong Main Branch is a place I'd love to visit again 👍
