Solo conveyor sushi in Daechi-dong: salmon buldak mayo, Sushi Ian N

In short

Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant on Seolleung-ro 86-gil in Daechi-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, where every plate costs a flat ₩1,990. On a day off, the writer stopped in alone for lunch after a Gangnam hair salon visit and ate 16 plates in one hour, including salmon buldak mayo (spicy fire-chicken sauce mayo) sushi, tako wasabi salmon rolls and shrimp bacon sushi. The torch-seared aburi sushi stood out, and Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station is an easy, low-pressure place to pick and eat sushi alone.

A solo conveyor sushi lunch in Daechi-dong after a Gangnam hair salon

Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station (스시이안앤 선릉역점) is a Daechi-dong conveyor sushi restaurant with a flat ₩1,990 per plate, and I stopped in alone for lunch after the hair salon. It was one of my occasional "free lady days" (자유부인데이)! This time I made a proper day of it (?) and went to a hair salon in Gangnam, and once my hair was done I suddenly got hungry. Oh, it's lunchtime! And then I spotted a conveyor sushi place nearby.

Sushi is one of my favorite foods, and I liked the flat ₩1,990 per plate, and I liked that with conveyor sushi I could pick what I wanted. So in I went, off we go ^ㅅ^

The second I walked in, the belt was packed with sushi! At about ₩2,000 a plate, you can grab whatever you feel like without worrying about the bill ^ㅅ^

How do you order at Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station?

At Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station you can pick sushi off the belt, or look at the menu on your table and order right away. Cheap conveyor sushi places are usually full of cheap, sauce-drenched pieces rather than fresh fish, but Sushi Ian N had a wide variety: nigiri, gunkan (rice boats wrapped in seaweed), maki and rolls, and more.

The sushi I ate at Sushi Ian N

Salmon belly sushi

I started with salmon belly! The neta (the fish topping) is cut generously. It looks delicious at first glance.

The sushi at Sushi Ian N has no wasabi inside, so you add as much as you like. I love wasabi, so I piled it on haha

Tako wasabi salmon roll

This one was so good I ate it twice: the tako wasabi salmon roll. Tako wasabi (chopped raw octopus with wasabi) has a great tangy kick, and rich salmon wraps around it, so it's delicious x delicious. Recommended!

Beef steak sushi

I ordered the beef steak sushi separately, and it was just so-so for me. People who like flame-seared sushi might like it!

Freshwater eel sushi: you have to have it warmed

Freshwater eel sushi. The pricier items come as a single piece, but at ₩2,000 I still think it's a cheap price. By the way, if your sushi has gone cold, ask the staff and they'll warm it up for you. For eel, warming it is a must!!!

Aged kimchi white fish sushi

Aged kimchi (mugeunji) white fish sushi. White fish goes really well with aged kimchi, and the sesame oil on top adds a nutty richness. Thumbs up!

Salmon bulgogi-mayo sushi

Another one I ate twice: salmon sushi with buldak mayo (spicy fire-chicken-style mayo). I only ended up with it because I grabbed the wrong plate off the belt at first (...), but the sauce was less spicy than I expected, and nutty and delicious, right? The salmon is lightly seared, so you get that smoky flame flavor too, and it was really good.

Even anko liver and sea urchin at ₩1,990

Sushi Ian N even has anko (monkfish liver) and sea urchin, and I was surprised to find such premium ingredients at a ₩1,990-a-plate conveyor sushi place. You can order these separately.

What was the best sushi at Sushi Ian N?

My top pick: the salmon aburi (torch-seared) sushi! The salmon buldak mayo sushi I mentioned and the salmon steak sushi were the best. So I had two plates of each ^ㅅ^

Is conveyor sushi for one doable in Daechi-dong?

I sat alone at Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station for an hour and ate 16 plates, so yes, eating solo is totally doable. I'd worried: could I really do conveyor sushi by myself? But whoa... I sat there for an hour eating like a food fighter. The bacon shrimp sushi in the photo was so good that it's another one I ate twice! Most of the torch-seared aburi sushi was great.

And that's how I polished off 16 plates of sushi by myself, don't tell anyone... hahaha I guess I really do like sushi ^^..... hahaha Even as I write this post, I want more. The prices are kind, and with so many kinds of sushi, it's easy to eat lots without worrying. Next time I'm near Seolleung Station in Gangnam, I'm definitely going back to Sushi Ian N!
