Sinnonhyeon jazz bar girls' meetup: Gruyère Iberico steak, Flat Nine
In short
Flat Nine is a jazz dining bar with live jazz and course menus on the 5th floor of K Tower near Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam Station in Seocho, Seoul. For a savings-club get-together with two close friends, the writer arrived at 3 p.m., shared the 7-course menu for 3 with a dry sparkling wine, read each dish's description through a tablet QR code, and stayed for the jazz show that began an hour later. Thanks to the Gruyère cheese sauce Iberico steak and an immersive live set, Flat Nine is worth recommending for both group gatherings and dates.

Why we picked Flat Nine for our girls' gye meetup
Today is my gye (Korean rotating savings club) meetup with my close unnies (older sisters) haha. To spend our gye money wisely(?), I booked Flat Nine in Sinnonhyeon, where you can watch a jazz show and enjoy a fancy course meal. ♡
Flat Nine was easy to find. You go into K Tower and it's on the 5th floor ㅎ

A banner at the entrance advertises today's artist lineup ㅎ

When you get up to the 5th floor, the October show schedule is laid out in detail ♡

What are Flat Nine's atmosphere and seating like?
Waiting at Flat Nine is set up through Catch Table, but I booked through Naver! Our entry time was 3 p.m., and one other party was waiting besides us.
The moment we walked in, we loved the atmosphere so much that my unnies and I just grinned silently. ♡♡ If you're coming to Gangnam Station with a crush, this is a really good-mood place, highly recommend. There's no way you could dislike it.. even love that wasn't there might bloom, haha.

Since Flat Nine has jazz shows, all the seats face the stage haha. There are bar seats too!!! ♡ Sitting there would be fun too.
The stage looked so cool that I kept staring at it ♡ I love jazz so much that I often play it at work and while driving, though I don't really know the artists haha. Anyway, the stage is gorgeous and I'm looking forward to the show 🥰
There's a restroom inside, and it's clean, with cotton pads and cotton swabs, so thoughtful.

What three women ordered at Flat Nine
The three of us ordered the Flat Nine course meal for three and a bottle of dry sparkling wine haha

Course menu explanations via the tablet QR code
Something I loved about eating the course at Flat Nine in Sinnonhyeon. ♡ If you scan the QR code on the tablet you use to order, you can read explanations of the dishes. Honestly, every time I eat a course meal I can't remember the descriptions even when I hear them, but reading detailed explanations with pictures and text while eating was more fun, and I liked knowing what ingredients I was eating. Our food talk with my unnies was definitely richer. haha
I'll walk you through the dishes, showing the food photos from the QR code next to the ones I took myself. haha 🙂
How did Flat Nine's 7-course meal taste?
1. Katsuo bavarois and Gouda gougère
The first dish is a side dish that goes well with wine: a sweet-salty, subtle katsuo (bonito) bavarois that brings out the character of its ingredient ㅎ The katsuo flavor was clear, which was fun, and the Gouda gougère (cheese puff) had truffle custard cream inside, so it tasted both familiar and novel.

2. Brioche, butter and Maldon salt
The second dish is brioche with butter and Maldon salt. The butter was seriously good, and spread on the bread it kept pulling me back. But this is a course meal, so you can't finish it all now. I had one bite and saved the rest for the next dish haha

3. Cauliflower gangjeong and honey tuile
The third dish is cauliflower gangjeong (sweet crispy glazed fried dish), plus a honey tuile that the staff said they make themselves ㅎ The first bite tastes like worldly indulgence, but as you chew you taste the cauliflower itself, a healthy flavor haha

4. Chili con carne lasagna
The fourth dish is chili con carne lasagna, and it was so good that I kept eating it by myself to the end. The lasagna was cooked perfectly and the ragù was delicious. It goes well with wine too ♡

5. Basil sorbet
The fifth, basil sorbet, was round like a green grape candy, so cute, but I wondered what it was lol. So I tried it, and it really cleanses your mouth. ♡ Perfect before the meat.

6. Iberico steak with Gruyère cheese sauce
The sixth, the main dish, is Iberico steak with Gruyère cheese sauce. The mushrooms were tasty and the pickles were refreshing and charming, and the steak's doneness and seasoning were just right, but above all the cheese sauce was seriously delicious ♡ It's totally the kick of this dish.. haha
It has a bittersweet taste like Gorgonzola and Gouda mixed together, cutting the richness of the meat and lifting it with a luxurious flavor, so because of this dish lol we ran short of wine..

7. Dark chocolate mousse
The last dish is dessert, dark chocolate mousse. Sweet, soft and cool, it felt like it wakes up not only your taste buds but other senses too? haha

Slush cocktail from the review event
Flat Nine said they'd give a slush cocktail if I wrote one more review, so I did and they gave it to me. A really sweet-and-sour, tasty slush cocktail. ♡

When does the jazz show start at Flat Nine, and how was it?
If you first enter Flat Nine at 3 p.m., you get an hour to eat without a show, and the jazz show starts an hour later. The jazz was really good, and I wondered how they could perform like that. ☺️ Somehow I wanted to get even more tipsy and didn't want to go home?? The immersion was insane. Pure romance.. ♡
When I went, a group from a jazz club seemed to be there, eating together at the group seats, watching the show together and sharing their impressions ㅎ
Etiquette to know when watching the show
- Once the show starts, be careful about talking or eating noisily! (Obvious manners!! haha)
- Check the show time, and I recommend going to the restroom before the show starts!!! haha
Who should you go to Flat Nine with?
If you have a crush on someone, come to Flat Nine at least once ♡ It would make a great impression. If you like jazz, it'd be great with a friend or your husband, anyone ♡ That's my honest Flat Nine review ♡
