Paju trackside café with a kid, vanilla latte and a train: On the Rail

On the Rail is a late-night café facing the railway tracks on Imjingak-ro in Munsan, Paju, about 5 minutes by car from Imjingak Peace Nuri Park. After a picnic at Peace Nuri Park, the writer stopped at On the Rail with a child for two vanilla lattes, salt bread and sweet potato loaf bread, and by luck caught a train passing by while finding a seat. Check the train timetable before visiting On the Rail to get a great photo; it is also a café worth returning to at night for the fire pit.

Family seafood restaurant in Mukho: kids' abalone porridge at Onda

Onda Donghae Mukho Main Branch is a sea-view octopus seafood hotplate restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Kkamakbawi raw fish village shopping building in Mukho, Donghae, Gangwon. On a Mukho trip with kids, the writer ordered the octopus, seafood and beef brisket hotplate for 2 and abalone porridge for the kids, then finished with fried rice; the seafood was fresh and the seasoning was neither too spicy nor too salty. Onda is a Mukho seafood restaurant the whole family can enjoy, even with a child who can't eat raw fish.

Kid-friendly Paju Unjeong dumpling spot for ages 2 and 5: Bubyeokjeong

Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu (부벽정평양만두) is a Pyeongyang-style dumpling restaurant on Jimok-ro in Paju, near Lotte Outlet and Paju Book City. Two sisters visited Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu with a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old at 6 pm on a weekend, ordering the spicy Pyeongyang mandu hot pot for 2, a half plate of beef shank suyuk (boiled sliced beef) and kids' mandu soup; the wait was under 10 minutes, and toddler tableware and tender beef made eating with the children easy. For a family meal that is mild, filling and not overly seasoned, Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a good fit.

Salt bread café in Gyoha, Paju with green window views: Paun Coffee

Paun Coffee Gyoha branch is a salt bread café in Gyoha, Paju, directly across from Gyoha Catholic Church. The writer had the choco salt bread and the cod roe mayo salt bread with a decaf coffee, and the floor-to-ceiling windows with a green view and high ceilings made Paun Coffee Gyoha comfortable to sit in with a child. With a clean indoor restroom as well, the writer's verdict was a 200% intention to return.
