When I come to Sokcho, I can skip most things, but I have to have raw fish and seafood jang (seafood marinated in soy sauce). So I searched around for Sokcho Beach restaurants and booked the one with the best, most famous reviews: Sokcho Geu Badaro (속초그바다로), near Cheongchoho Lake!

Its Naver rating is great, and it's certified as an Ansim Restaurant by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, so I figured I could go with confidence +_+ What sealed it was that you can taste a whole spread of seafood jang plus Sokcho soy-marinated crab all at once. Today I'll give you an honest review along with menu prices, parking and reservation tips, so read to the end and take it all with you!

Dipping things in the raw egg jang in the middle is absolutely heavenly 😭 💙

There are plenty of side dishes too, and they're so neat that it felt like being treated to a proper meal. With the looks, the taste and the composition all nailed, I think I'll remember this as a great Sokcho Beach restaurant.

How do Sokcho soy-marinated crab and shrimp jang taste?

Eating the soy-marinated crab at Sokcho Geu Badaro with rice, I understood right away why it's called a "rice thief." (I almost ordered another bowl of pot rice...)

The shrimp were plump and packed with savory flavor too, so shrimp jang fans will be happy.

The potato pot rice at Sokcho Geu Badaro has potato, ginkgo nuts and mushrooms in it, and the rice is served into a separate bowl, then

you pour warm water over the scorched rice (nurungji) stuck to the pot and eat it like that. Seriously, the rice itself was so good!! And it was cooked just right~
