Why we chose Urban Slow City for glamping in Chuncheon

Urban Slow City is a campground on the river in Namyeon, Chuncheon. Before the weather got properly hot, the writer took a trip with her husband for the first time in a while. She loves the camping mood, but pitching and packing up a tent is honestly a hassle, haha, so they went for glamping to relax in comfort.

Searching around Chuncheon and Gapyeong, there were so many glamping sites and campgrounds. After a long time deciding, they booked Urban Slow City because the facilities looked clean and the price was good.

The campground was much bigger than expected. After arriving, the writer walked around inside and was surprised at how spacious it was, haha.

It's a good place for families with kids: there's a big open area where children can run around freely, plus a separate playground, haha.

There's a good variety too, with a trampoline, slides and a swing area.

Seeing kids actually running around, it seems like a Chuncheon campground that many families visit, haha.

Does Urban Slow City run camping, caravans and glamping?

Yes. Urban Slow City runs not only regular camping sites but also caravans and glamping.

We booked glamping, but once we got there the caravans looked so pretty and nice too, haha.

The river is right in front of the campsites and caravans, so it's perfect for zoning out to the flowing water ("mulmeong"), and I thought a barbecue here would feel really great, haha. If we come back, I'd like to try a caravan once.

Urban Slow City water sports facilities

Urban Slow City is a water-leisure campground where you can play in the water, with a water slide, a water park and other water sports facilities. It looked refreshing and great for a hot summer day.

There are packages that include life jacket rental and the use of various water sports facilities, and separate shower rooms for after you've played, which is convenient.

Checking in at the office and unmanned store

Check-in at Urban Slow City is at the office, which doubles as the store. After finishing our tour of the campground, we headed to the office to check in, haha.

The office runs together with the store, and it was bigger than expected and kept neat and clean.

Inside, there was a good range from drinks and snacks to supplies you need for camping.

There are also arcade machines, so it seems good for killing time while waiting to check in or before dinner. The store sells firewood and charcoal for the campfire, and since it's unmanned, you can buy what you need even late at night, which I liked.

What is the Aurora glamping room at Urban Slow City like?

The glamping room we booked at Urban Slow City was the Aurora room. It's set slightly apart from the main area of the campground, so it was good for resting privately and quietly.

Stepping inside, I was surprised at how roomy it was, haha. Two large beds are pushed together, which gave plenty of space. For people who like camping but hate sleeping uncomfortably, this is a Chuncheon glamping site I'd recommend.

Aurora room supplies, toilet and bathroom

The Aurora room had most of what you need already prepared.

There were hangers and towels, of course, plus extra sleeping bags and mattresses. A small chair and table were handy for setting snacks on, and there was even a tablet, so we could watch videos and relax before and after meals, haha.

Having a toilet and bathroom inside the glamping room was really convenient, haha. There are shared restrooms too, so if you're using a caravan or the campsites, use the shared restroom at the store!

Aurora room kitchen

The Aurora glamping room also had a separate kitchen area, and it was clean and big, which I liked, haha.

The fridge was a decent size, so we could store plenty even after a big grocery run, and it had both fridge and freezer functions, haha. A microwave, tableware, cups, a ladle, scissors and tongs were all provided, so there was no need to bring our own! There were even wine glasses, which is great for setting the mood, haha.

Microwaves and tableware are often shared at campgrounds, but the glamping rooms at Urban Slow City have everything in the room, which was really convenient.

Zoning out by the river at the outdoor table

In front of the Aurora room were an outdoor table and camping chairs, and the atmosphere was really lovely. The river is right in front, so sitting there listening to the water flow, it was pure healing~~ It was great for spacing out with a coffee bought at the store.

Charcoal BBQ and wood campfire

The BBQ time I was looking forward to most!! We grilled meat bought at a supermarket over charcoal, and the heat was strong so it cooked quickly and tasted great.

Maybe because the charcoal smell soaks in gently, it tasted definitely different from meat cooked in a regular frying pan!! Meat on a trip always seems to taste better, haha.

After eating our fill of meat, we enjoyed a campfire too! We ordered 10kg of firewood and it burned longer than I expected. Aurora powder (a powder that tints the flames) is also sold at the store, so buy some if you want it!

Listening to the crackle of burning wood and chatting with my husband about this and that, the night slipped by before we knew it, haha.

Who is Urban Slow City glamping right for?

It was a Chuncheon trip where I got properly refreshed for the first time in a while. If you're looking for a water-leisure campground with clean facilities where you can also play in the water, I recommend Urban Slow City, haha. It was a satisfying Chuncheon glamping site where we could rest quietly and still enjoy the camping mood!!
