Italian restaurant in Gwangjang-dong: charcoal squid rigatoni, Greveur
In short
Greveur Gwangjang Main Branch (그레베르 광장본점) is an Italian brunch restaurant on the ground floor of the Gwangjang Xi apartment shopping arcade in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin, Seoul. After booking on Naver and arriving at opening time, the writer had tomato ragu stew with poached egg, straw-smoked charcoal-grilled baby squid rigatoni and salted cream French toast, plus coffee for 2,000 won extra and olive oil vanilla ice cream. Verdict: the brunch at Greveur Gwangjang Main Branch is good, but the pasta and risotto are the real must-orders near Gwangnaru Station.

You're reading this because you're curious about Greveur, the brunch spot in Gwangjang-dong, right? No long speeches needed, the menu photos explain everything. Let's start exploring Greveur. Go go!

Where is Greveur Gwangjang Main Branch, and where do you park?
Greveur Gwangjang Main Branch (그레베르 광장본점) is on the ground floor of the Gwangjang Xi apartment shops near Gwangnaru Station, and you park in the shopping-arcade lot. The arcade isn't big, so about 6 cars fit beside the entrance to the apartment complex. Some people park further inside, but the arcade is small, so it gets sorted quickly.
Greveur is a highly recommended brunch place near Gwangnaru Station. It's a shame that the neighboring shops have rental signs up and are poorly kept, but the place beats that surrounding environment with its lush greenery. In front of the shop you'll see a green sign with yellow letters. It's a sign you could see anywhere, but it feels a little more upscale.

We did an opening-time run for brunch that day, with a Naver reservation made in advance. That way it's a bit more comfortable for you too.

I didn't ask whether you can eat outdoors, but there's an outside space too, which I loved.

Atmosphere and the private room
The first thing you see walking into Greveur Gwangjang Main Branch is the open kitchen. You can see everything the kitchen is doing, which means they're confident in their cooking.
The interior is pure good taste. Every time I come I think so: dividing the tables with potted plants was a really good move.

The tables come nicely set with basic tableware.

Greveur has a separate private room. If you're having a family gathering, book ahead and eat in this room, it's great. When I visited before with my child, there was a family gathering here, and it looked wonderful.

A professional chef runs Greveur, so the menu has lots of things you rarely see at other pasta places. I even think it might beat the chefs at Walkerhill. It's the kind of place you'd take a shuttle to from Walkerhill, so I recommend Greveur.

Even the tissues have the shop name printed on them. Basic good taste.
How much is coffee with Greveur brunch?
If you visit during brunch hours, Greveur has a brunch menu, and for just ₩2,000 more you can add a coffee. The coffee smelled great, and as expected, it's a brunch café that does not disappoint.

The coffee cup is really pretty, isn't it?

Tomato ragu stew & poached egg and straw-smoked charcoal-grilled baby squid rigatoni
Drumroll! What came out first... it's the tomato ragu stew & poached egg from Greveur's brunch menu. It's slightly spicy, and the poached egg makes this brunch dish a real winner.
This one isn't a brunch menu item: it's the straw-smoked charcoal-grilled baby squid rigatoni. The charcoal and straw aroma is no joke.

One dish hadn't come out yet, but it was the salted cream French toast, kind of a dessert, so we went ahead and started eating.
The first time I came to Greveur I had a red crab risotto that I remember being really good. It's a little sad that it's not on the menu now, but seeing them always filling it with new dishes, you can feel the chef's passion.
First, let's cut up the squid.

You can feel the bounciness just by looking at it.
As expected, Greveur really does pasta properly. The brunch menu is good, but pasta or risotto is an absolute must here.
Oh, but the pizza last time was delicious too! Looking for a great Italian place? Then Greveur is the answer. The poached egg is something else, isn't it? The doneness is truly precise.

The tomato ragu stew has a slight spiciness, and you eat it with bread. Like us, it's nice to order one more non-spicy dish to share alongside.
How was the salted cream French toast?
The salted cream French toast came out when we were nearly done with the meal, and it felt like the cream had been piped almost the moment it was made. The taste is very different from regular cream, in a classy way.

And this toast... is it really okay to bake it this well? The textbook crispy outside, moist inside! The chef trained at Le Cordon Bleu, so it's different in so many ways.
If you come on a weekday when the brunch menu is available, you absolutely have to try it.
Olive oil vanilla ice cream when you book on Naver
Ta-da! The reason you must book Greveur on Naver in advance is this ice cream. It's vanilla ice cream drizzled with olive oil... super nutty and delicious.

Even the nuts sprinkled on top are all something you don't get to taste anywhere else, aren't they?
I guess I'm still far from being a Shorts creator... I'll wrap up this exploration of Greveur, the Gwangjang-dong brunch spot, with a failed attempt at a cool floating shot.

Who is Greveur Gwangjang Main Branch good for?
This is a shot of the Greveur logo reflected in the mirror. Nice mood, right? Greveur in Gwangjang-dong, next to Guui-dong, is good for dates, for wine, and for brunch with coffee in this kind of atmosphere.
The perilla oil pasta and pizza I had last time with my child, just the two of us, were great, and this time the pasta again met expectations! Pasta spots in Cheongdam-dong and the like? No need to go. Greveur, a Gwangjin-gu favorite, is better. The exploration continues. Exploring!
