Pocheon bakery café, cactus garden & entrance map: Geurine Oasis

In short

Geurine Oasis is a large bakery café in Gomori, Soheul-eup, Pocheon, known for its artificial lake fountain and boardwalk views. The writer visited Geurine Oasis on a hot weekend, found the interior too crowded to see properly, and enjoyed an iced Americano, a green tea latte and a strawberry-preserve latte on the gravel terrace and in the cactus garden. Expect weekend crowds, but the view alone makes Geurine Oasis a Pocheon café worth the trip.

Geurine Oasis is a large bakery café in Gomori, Pocheon, and people flock here for the view alone. You do need to brace yourself a bit on weekends, but if you're asking whether it's still worth it, absolutely.

"There's a place like this in Pocheon?" That was the first thought that crossed my mind the moment I walked in. And after actually going, the rumors were true.

How big is Geurine Oasis? Start with the entrance map

What hits you as soon as you step into Geurine Oasis is the sheer size. It feels more like a resort than a café, and there's a map of the grounds standing at the entrance. Only after looking at it did I think, "Wow, this place is really that big."

The parking lot, main building, outdoor terrace, garden and waterside area are all separate zones. At Geurine Oasis, the proper move is to check the map first and plan your route.

Rules for visiting with dogs

There's also a sign with usage rules outdoors at Geurine Oasis. If you're bringing a dog, check it first. Dogs can roam freely outdoors, but a carrier is required to enter the annex indoors.

Is the lake view at Geurine Oasis for real?

In front of Geurine Oasis, a fountain shoots up from the middle of an artificial lake, and a wooden boardwalk runs along the water. Honestly, I went half doubting it — "a view-focused café in Pocheon?" — but once I saw it, I was speechless.

I couldn't believe this was just the view in front of a café.

If you're looking for a café for a Pocheon trip itinerary, leaving out Geurine Oasis would be a shame.

On weekends, the outdoor space is the real main attraction at Geurine Oasis

On the weekend, the indoor area at Geurine Oasis was so crowded that I honestly couldn't see it properly. Even moving around was tight. I wanted to take some nice indoor photos too, but I couldn't even bring myself to shoot.. But that's actually proof. If the inside is that packed, it must be really popular.

The outdoor side was different. Maybe because it was so hot, it was a little roomier! Kind of a lucky break, honestly? There's a wide gravel terrace with parasols spread out here and there.

Outdoor cactus and succulent garden

Geurine Oasis also has an outdoor garden decorated with cacti and succulents. White spherical sculptures are placed here and there, and the kids especially seemed fascinated by them.

The exotic atmosphere catches your eye right away, and in person it was even prettier.

The glass-fronted building and the stairs to the upper level

The building at Geurine Oasis lives up to the name of a large bakery café. A tall glass-fronted building rises up, and its beige tone goes well with the outdoor space.

There are also stairs going up from the gravel yard to the upper level. Climb up and another space opens up. Wherever you wander, there's always something more to see.

How were the drinks at Geurine Oasis?

At Geurine Oasis we ordered an iced Americano, a green tea latte and a strawberry cheongnyang latte (strawberry and green grape-style ade-latte). Everyone picked to their own taste.

Three drinks: iced Americano, green tea latte and strawberry cheongnyang latte

The green tea latte came out in a lovely color. The strawberry cheongnyang latte had strawberry syrup layered at the bottom, so it looked pretty great.

The Americano was on the strong side. Drinking it in front of this view, it felt like it tasted even better. Sitting on the deck in front of the lake with a cup of coffee is pretty much healing itself.

A Pocheon café stop to pair with Gwangneung Arboretum
