Ansan Bandalseom drive stop for flounder hoe-muchim: Eochongye 1beonji
In short
Eochongye 1beonji is a sashimi restaurant near the Bandalseom waterfront in Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi. Three of us drove out here and ordered live squid with an assorted sashimi platter, flounder hoe-muchim (spicy raw fish salad), and bone-in spicy fish stew with knife-cut noodle and rice add-ons. The squid was still moving on the plate, and the side dishes and sauces at Eochongye 1beonji were just as good as the fish.

With weather this nice these days, weekends feel even more exciting! This week my friend, my boyfriend and I went for a drive to Bandalseom and ended up at a Bandalseom-area sashimi spot with amazing seasonal raw fish~
Eochongye 1beonji

Eochongye 1beonji hours and parking
Eochongye 1beonji is open daily from 11:00 to 01:30, with last order at 00:40. There's 2 hours of free parking support in the underground lot.

Eochongye 1beonji is right near Bandalseom beach, so it's a great spot to check out the sea and grab fresh, delicious sashimi while you're driving around.

What is the dining room at Eochongye 1beonji like?
Even though it's a sashimi restaurant, the place was spotless with no fishy smell at all, and the bright, clean interior gave a great first impression. Plenty of tables too, so it looked good for groups. It's also nice to eat outside when the weather's good!! And the staff were so friendly, which made the whole meal comfortable and enjoyable.

What three of us ordered
Eochongye 1beonji really has such a wide variety of sashimi~ And not just sashimi — grilled dishes, mixed raw fish salads, sides, all kinds of things, so picking what to eat was honestly a happy problem...❤️ We ordered:
- Live squid + assorted sashimi
- Flounder hoe-muchim (spicy mixed raw fish salad)
- Spicy fish stew + knife-cut noodles + rice
- Chamisul soju, cider
That's what we ordered!

You just order right at the table with the table-order tablet — super convenient!! And if you need side dish refills or anything else, you just press the staff call button and order instead of flagging someone down. So, so easy.

Sauces and side dishes
What's really great about Eochongye 1beonji is that it's not just the variety of sashimi — there's a whole range of sauces to eat it with too. As a proper Bandalseom sashimi spot, you get to try so many combinations, and I honestly loved that.

They even have aprons on hand, so no need to worry about chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) stains on a white shirt

The side dishes and sauces came out. The peanuts were great as a drinking snack, and I tried ceviche sauce for the first time — dipped it on salmon and it was way better than I expected? Still, my favorite was makjang (fermented soybean-chili paste) haha

I really love corn salad so I got a refill haha. Eochongye 1beonji isn't just good for sashimi, the side dishes are amazing too — crazy good...

Live squid sashimi and the mini seasonal platter
We came on a Saturday evening so it was pretty busy, but the food still came out fast!! First up was the squid sashimi!!
My friend wanted squid sashimi so we ordered it. The moment it landed on the table, the squid was still wriggling — got to eat it that fresh, which made me so happy haha. My boyfriend and I eat seasonal sashimi pretty regularly, and the squid sashimi here is honestly among the best and freshest we've had!!

The mini seasonal platter that came with the squid sashimi set let us try a bunch of different fish, and it was plated so nicely it looked great too. Just like the squid, every single piece in the platter was fresh, no exceptions!! Seriously... so good...❤️
How was the flounder hoe-muchim?
Next was the flounder hoe-muchim. You can pick which fish goes into the hoe-muchim, and we chose flounder — good call. The seasoning was mixed in just right, not too salty or spicy, so you could really taste how fresh the fish was. I think vegetables matter a lot in a hoe-muchim, and here they were cut into just the right bite-sized pieces.

Bone-in spicy fish stew with knife-cut noodles and rice
Wait, after eating the hoe-muchim I suddenly really wanted rice? Do you all like eating rice with your sashimi? I always eat rice when I go to a sashimi restaurant. So we ordered the bone-in spicy fish stew to go with it haha

My boyfriend wanted knife-cut noodles too, so we added a noodle order on top!!
The stew broth was really clean, no muddiness, which I liked. And it wasn't too spicy — pass! Eating rice, sashimi, and stew together, I was just happy...

Drinking here? Call a designated driver
On the way out after paying, I noticed they had taxi and designated-driver numbers posted. It's hard not to drink at a sashimi restaurant, so I think the best move is to drink and eat as much as you want, then call a designated driver to get home safely haha.
If you're looking for a great spot for a quick drive and a good meal in Ansan, I really, really recommend Eochongye 1beonji, the sashimi restaurant near Bandalseom!! Every single dish was fresh and delicious with no exceptions, and the staff were so friendly — very satisfied!
