Guinea pig carrot feeding at Artis Theme Park, a Dongtan indoor zoo

Artis Theme Park is an indoor eco-education theme park on the 9th floor of Sinyu Medi Plaza in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Visiting just with my youngest son, we bought the 6,900-won full feeding set for 7 species and fed carrots to guinea pigs, touched starfish, tried doctor fish and fed stingrays, then collected stamps for a badge. Artis Theme Park works rain or shine and includes 3 hours of free parking, making it an easy half-day out with a child.

Dongtan galbi restaurant weekday lunch with 6 sauces: Jipbul Taebaek

Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch is a straw-fire grilled beef rib restaurant in the 11-ja shopping strip of Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. A couple stopped in for weekday lunch and ordered woodae galbi (thick-cut premium beef short rib) 300g for two at 64,000 won, which the staff grilled from start to finish while the table worked through 6 sauces including black sesame salt and neungi mushroom sauce. The ribs at Jipbul Taebaek came seasoned enough to eat on their own, and the straw-fire aroma and tender texture alone made the meal worth it.
