What matters most when choosing a swimsuit for travel?
I went to Miyakojima for a relaxing trip with my family. For this trip, I picked out a new swimsuit to wear at the beach and pool.
I’ve gained weight recently, so I didn’t even take out the swimsuits I used to wear. Along with the design, the amount of body coverage was the most important thing I looked at when choosing a new one.
Bikinis felt like too much, while very sporty rash guard sets weren’t the mood I wanted. Once I considered both a design I liked and body coverage, there were fewer options than I expected. That’s when I found the Bohemian Blue Gingham Check One-Piece Swimsuit.
How are the check pattern and adjustable straps?
When it arrived, I liked it even more in person than I had in the photos.
It has a red-and-white gingham check pattern. The colors are vivid, so I thought it would suit the sea in Miyakojima.
There is a white bow tie at the center front. The check pattern and bow together gave it a retro feel.
The length of both straps can be adjusted with buckles. The center-front bow also changed the bust silhouette depending on how tightly I tied it. I liked being able to adjust those parts to suit my body.
Did it ease worries about showing my stomach and waistline?
Because it is a one-piece style, it covers the stomach, and it has gathered ruching at the center front. When I wore it, the fabric draped naturally over my upper stomach and beneath my bust instead of clinging tightly. I felt less self-conscious about my shape than I do in close-fitting swimsuits.
It also has ruching at the waist, which made my waistline look more defined to my eye. I liked the fit more than I expected when I looked in the mirror, so I packed it for this Miyakojima trip.
What is it like worn with a rash guard?
In Miyakojima, the sun felt strong from the morning onward. When I was getting around or sitting in the shade, I threw a rash guard over my swimsuit.
The white rash guard went better with the red check swimsuit than I expected. Adding a white ball cap made the outfit suit the resort atmosphere, and I loved how the photos turned out too.
Was there any show-through or strap slipping in the water?
It was comfortable in the water too. The material has stretch and a certain amount of thickness, so I was not worried about it becoming see-through underwater when I wore it. The strap buckles did not come undone or slip, and I even did butterfly strokes in the hotel pool.
This time, I was looking for a swimsuit with a design I liked that would also cover my body, and I was happy with both the check pattern and the ruched fit. The quality felt satisfying for the price too.
I wore it well on my Miyakojima trip, and even after returning, it made me want to wear it often throughout the summer.
