Hongdae burger spot, cheese-dripping Double Deom Burger: Deombeogeo

I'm a burger maniac... and I found out about Deombeogeo, a Yeonnam-dong handmade burger place. It's a new spot I'd never heard of, so challenge accepted! Here's my visit review!

Where is Deombeogeo Bonjeom and what are its hours?

Deombeogeo Bonjeom is on the 2nd floor at 244-1 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, right next to the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, open daily from 10:00 to 04:00. Amenities include takeout, Wi-Fi, delivery, group gatherings, and reservations. Since it's open until 4am, it's great for ordering late-night delivery.

Inside Deombeogeo Bonjeom: interior and seating

The Yeonnam-dong Deombeogeo location is a spacious American casual-style spot, with 8 window solo seats lined up along a floor-to-ceiling window. The AC inside was nice and cool, and the roomy space stood out.

With 2 tables for two and 2 tables for four, it looked good for dates, and the 1 table for six seemed decent for group gatherings.

The restroom is inside the store, which is convenient.

Does Deombeogeo offer free drink refills?

Deombeogeo is a handmade burger place, but it offers drink refills, which made it good value. These days a lot of handmade burger places just give you a can of soda, which always makes me sad, but Deombeogeo in Hongdae lets you refill — nice.

Lunchtime at Deombeogeo: a busy delivery kitchen

During lunch, Deombeogeo Bonjeom had so many delivery orders that delivery riders kept coming in and out. It seemed like it's already a well-known spot with riders constantly passing through.

Orders kept piling up, and it felt like a lunchtime hotspot handmade burger place in the Hongdae/Yeonnam area.

At the time of my visit, Deombeogeo was running a Naver receipt review event. Participating gets you a free special coleslaw.

Deombeogeo's burger sets range from ₩13,900 to ₩21,900.

For sides, there's 3 chicken tenders for ₩5,500 and a sweet corn salad for ₩2,500. After thinking it over, I ordered the Double Deom Burger set, guessing it'd be packed with cheese.

How was the cheese-dripping Double Deom Burger set?

The Double Deom Burger was a heavy American-style handmade burger with cheddar cheese cascading down like a waterfall, thick double patties, grilled onions, and pickles piled on top. I sat at a window seat watching the Hongdae street when the Double Deom Burger set arrived.

I was shocked by the cheese waterfall visual. It was heavy enough to weigh down my wrist, and I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the burger. The height and weight were incredible!

With the cheese pouring down and the double patties so thick, I briefly mistook it for a triple patty. Underneath, grilled onions, pickles, and other vegetables were stacked heavily.

I took a bite, and the cheddar cheese along with the salty grilled beef crumbled apart in my mouth, an American handmade burger style dance.

The pure beef juices were packed in densely, so I got happier with every bite. I could see why there's so much lunch delivery.

The Hongdae street view was so good, the sunlight was warm, the AC breeze was cool — it was heaven. Certified Hongdae must-visit!

What stood out at Deombeogeo: sturdy burger paper and self-serve ketchup

Deombeogeo's burger paper is quite thick, so even a meat-and-cheese bomb burger can be eaten cleanly without getting grease on your hands. Usually with a meaty, cheesy handmade burger, grease sticks to your hands and gets sticky, but Deombeogeo's thick paper blocks the grease, so I could eat it neatly. No collapsing or dripping burger either!

Ketchup was available as much as I wanted from the self-serve bar.

The fries were thin and salty, and the Cider Zero was refillable too, so I refilled it once.

I calmly ate the big burger while watching the quiet Hongdae floor-to-ceiling window view outside. I lost track of time people-watching, and by the time I finished, I felt like I was about to burst.

Deombeogeo in Yeonnam-dong: final verdict

Deombeogeo is a Yeonnam-dong handmade burger spot where pure grilled beef patty flavor and a cheese waterfall dance together. Between the thick, gooey American-style cheddar cheese and the quality handmade burger with no off flavor, I had a happy lunch. If you're looking for a quality, popular handmade burger place with drink refills, I'd recommend Deombeogeo in Yeonnam-dong!
