Ulsan shabu buffet before closing, veggie-mala broth: Shabre Garden
In short
Shabre Garden Ulsan Nam-gu Branch (샤브르정원 더블랙) is a shabu-shabu buffet on Suam-ro in Nam-gu, Ulsan, with unlimited sushi, cypress-steamed dishes, desserts and draft beer. The writer and her husband visited Shabre Garden on a weekday evening shortly before closing, ordered a half vegetable, half mala split broth, and found the buffet still well stocked and well kept. The cypress steamer and salmon sushi were good enough to crave again, making Shabre Garden a solid buffet for a family meal out.

Is there still plenty of food at Shabre Garden near closing time?
On a weekday evening, not long before closing, I went out to eat at Shabre Garden (샤브르정원 더블랙) in Ulsan with my husband. I was worried a lot of the food would be gone, but there was more left than I expected and everything was well kept, so we had a really satisfying meal.
Besides the shabu-shabu itself, there were all kinds of side dishes and desserts, so we left completely full!

Atmosphere and seating at Shabre Garden in Nam-gu, Ulsan

The restaurant felt spacious and clean overall. It looked like a good spot for a family meal or a get-together, and even on a weekday evening quite a few people were eating.

The tables are especially wide, so it was so easy to bring food over and set it down while eating.

How do you choose a broth? Tablet ordering and the veggie-mala split
At Shabre Garden, after you're shown to your table, you order your broth on a tablet. You can enjoy shabu-shabu with different broth combinations, and we chose a split pot: half veggie broth, half mala (numbing-spicy) broth.
What food is on the Shabre Garden buffet?

Ice cream, drinks and the bingsu (shaved ice) corner
Right at the entrance there's an ice cream and drink zone. The soft serve is really good, so definitely have some for dessert 🍦

From the bingsu (shaved ice) corner that kids love to the desserts!! I liked how many toppings there were.
Shabre Garden has Korean, Western and Chinese dishes, all nicely covered.

The sushi bar and its signature salmon sushi
I highly recommend the sushi zone at Shabre Garden.

The famous Shabre Garden salmon sushi! I came for this one thing, and it was exactly the taste I'd hoped for. The fresh, thick-cut salmon sushi didn't feel like buffet quality at all.
Fried food and side dishes
There were fried items and all sorts of side dishes too, full of things that were right up my alley.

Eating only shabu-shabu can get a little dull, but being able to grab other dishes in between really showed the strength of a buffet. I can see why so many families come.

Unlimited draft beer, too
And Shabre Garden even has unlimited draft beer! With so many dishes to snack on, beer lovers can really go all out 🤣🍺🍻

What ingredients are at the shabu-shabu bar?
Now for the main event, the shabu-shabu corner! Shabre Garden has a wide range of ingredients: assorted vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, fish cakes and more. There were also corn noodles and fish balls that go well with mala soup! The meat is unlimited too.
Yaeum-dong shabu-shabu with a half-and-half broth option

For our half veggie, half mala split pot, I carefully picked out ingredients for each side. We could alternate between the clean, mild veggie broth and the tongue-tingling mala broth, so we never got tired of it, and it was fun putting the meat and vegetables into different broths to eat them differently.

Please do try the sushi, like salmon, egg and raw shrimp 🍣 The quality is amazing, just what you'd expect from a shabu-shabu and sushi hotspot!

Best dish at Shabre Garden: the cypress steamer
Today's best dish! The tastiest thing at Shabre Garden was the cypress steamer (편백찜). The meat and bean sprouts were steamed moist and light, with a faint cypress aroma, so I kept reaching for more.

Broth cooking tips and the best sauce combo
The flavor gets much deeper if you boil the broth for a good while and add the meat until it's simmered down. Be sure to dip the meat in the sauce combo below! It's so savory that you'll keep going back.
- Peanut sauce 3
- Fish sauce 1
- Green onion 1
- Chopped chili 1
- Garlic 1

I finished with a custom bingsu loaded with my favorite toppings! I think kids would absolutely love it~ Shabre Garden is a place where everyone in a family can eat happily!
