What kind of BBQ restaurant is Biniljip Suam Branch?
Biniljip Suam Branch (비닐집 수암점) is a pork belly BBQ restaurant in Suam-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, styled like a camping-themed outdoor eatery. The weather has been lovely lately and I suddenly missed that outdoor feeling, so I searched for unusual BBQ places, and it turns out you don't have to drive out to the countryside: there's an Ulsan restaurant right in the city with a proper camping vibe.

Biniljip Suam Branch already has a big reputation as a Suam-dong favorite, and it was more satisfying than I expected. From the entrance it's decorated with tents and quirky props, so it almost felt like I'd traveled somewhere far away. I loved it.

It's camping-themed, so isn't it hot?
Even with the camping-style interior, it was cool inside Biniljip Suam Branch. The decor and atmosphere are completely different from ordinary BBQ places, and the moment I walked in my mood got a refresh. Restaurants that go for an outdoor feel often struggle with smoke or weak cooling, and you end up suffering in the heat, right? But here, amazingly, it feels like camping and the inside is cool, so everyone in my group said "nice!" at the same time.

Smell-proof bags, coffee machines and hangers
Biniljip Suam Branch has bags you can tie your belongings into so they don't pick up the BBQ smell, which I loved! There are also books to read if you have to wait, and two coffee machines for after the meal!? There are hangers too, so storing your coat looks easy.

Tablet ordering
At Biniljip Suam Branch you order straight from your seat on a tablet, which was convenient! There's no menu to flip through, it's easy to compare prices, you can check right after ordering, and adding more is simple.

The air conditioning was really blasting, so a big plus was grilling meat in a comfortable, clean environment. The tables are spaced widely and the space suits all ages, so I thought it would be great for a weekend outing with kids or parents.

What should you order at Biniljip Suam Branch?
The signature dish recommended at Biniljip Suam Branch is the Biniljip Hanpan (비닐집한판), a platter that includes pork belly. I sat down and studied the menu, and the meat lineup was so good I couldn't decide, so I asked and was pointed to the signature platter. We wanted plenty of meat, so we went for the 500g Biniljip Hanpan. As soon as we ordered, the side dishes were neatly laid out, and they were all the kind you keep reaching for.

How were the self-bar ramyeon and kimchi and chive pancakes?
The real all-time perk at Biniljip Suam Branch was the self-bar with ramyeon, kimchi pancakes and chive pancakes. The owner must be super strict about hygiene, because the self-bar was spotless, without a speck of grease.

I tried both the kimchi pancake and the chive pancake, and the chive one was more my taste. It's crispy like a cracker outside, moist inside, with a strong fragrant chive aroma, so it was perfect as a snack before the meat was grilled.

The shelf has lots of ramyeon varieties, and it's an unlimited free service, so you can cook as much as you like without feeling awkward. It was awesome! We picked a spicy-broth one and boiled it up, and the chewy noodles went absolutely crazy good with the meat.
How does the Biniljip Hanpan pork belly taste?
The meat in the Biniljip Hanpan had no gamey smell at all, and it stayed chewy and tender as I ate, so I couldn't put my chopsticks down. The platter is also bundled with a stew set that goes perfectly with meat, so we paired it with a hot broth too.

I put the thickly sliced pork belly on the grill, cooked it golden, dipped it in just a little salt and took a bite. The moment I chewed, savory juices burst through my mouth, and the quality was so great that I thought, yep, pork belly is the best.

Kimchi stew or doenjang stew: which did we pick?
They told us the stew in the Biniljip Suam Branch set can be either kimchi stew or doenjang (soybean paste) stew, so choosing was fun too. We prefer a deeper, nutty flavor with meat, so after some debate we went with the doenjang stew.

When the stew arrived, the doenjang stew came in a huge earthenware pot, so generous I thought it might even be too much.

It was packed with tofu, fresh vegetables and even meat, so the broth wasn't stuffy at all, but spicy and deep. The savory, salty broth softly cut the richness of the pork belly, so the meat never got tiresome and I could keep eating endlessly!

Extra rice and steamed egg
Between meat and ramyeon we added rice and steamed egg (gyeran-jjim), and the egg arrived puffed up over the pot like a bomb. The fluffy, soft egg together with rice stirred into the stew broth was simply delicious, and I kept shoveling it in even though I was full.

Service and overall verdict on Biniljip Suam Branch
The staff at Biniljip Suam Branch were all so kind and responded quickly every time I pressed the bell, so I felt treated like a guest throughout the meal. It's a top-notch spot where you can enjoy a special camping-style outdoor atmosphere in the city and stuff yourself with high-quality Korean pork (hanbon) BBQ at a good price.

From the main meat to the sides and the unlimited ramyeon, the owner's generosity and care came through, and it was a touching Ulsan BBQ place. How about making memories and relaxing with family or friends over good meat at Biniljip Suam Branch this weekend?
