Dongtan self-photo studio for anniversary and ultrasound photos: U&I

For our wedding anniversary, we visited a self-photo studio for the first time in a while and took couple photos. It's a newly opened self-photo studio in Dongtan called U&I, and it turns out it's already famous as a premium studio in Seoul's Hongdae, Seongsu and more. Where is U&I Dongtan Branch and where do you park?

U&I Dongtan Branch is at 706 Dongtan-daero, Dongtan IT Valley 2, Building 1, 2F, Unit 230, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, South Korea, and it's open daily 10:00-18:00. If you park in the building's underground car park, you can register for free parking.

You can just park comfortably underground and come up. It's a Dongtan IT Valley building so it wasn't hard to find, and with parking registration available, we visited without any worry.

We booked through Naver Reservation, and they texted us instructions before the visit ☺︎ Note that you need to bring your own shoes!

Inside U&I Dongtan Branch and the vanity setup

As a newly opened self-photo studio in Dongtan, U&I is spacious and tidy. The moment we walked in, the wide, clean, comfortable space caught our eye.

On the left there was a vanity with not just hair dryers but also a Dyson styling tool, a steam iron, cotton swabs, hair ties and more. Everything you need to quickly fix your look before shooting was thoughtfully prepared.

What flower centerpiece concepts are there?

U&I lets you shoot in various concepts, and you can choose a flower centerpiece too 💐 I requested the white greenery concept, and it was set up this prettily.

There are 3 flower directing options: white greenery, pastel pink and deep red. You can mix and match all three.

Props and dress rental at U&I Dongtan Branch

One side of U&I Dongtan Branch has all kinds of shooting props: cake, flowers, dolls, balloons, party hats, a chalkboard and more. Sometimes even with lots of props, you can't spot ones that are actually usable, but this Dongtan self-photo studio has props that are genuinely good for taking photos, so we made full use of them!

There's also a separate fitting room, so you can change into clothes you brought or use the outfits they provide. They had women's dresses, men's suits and even baby dresses, which would be perfect for family photos as well as self-wedding photos~ Rental is free if you join the Naver review event, so keep that in mind :)

How does the self-shoot work?

At U&I Dongtan Branch, a staff member explains how everything works before the shoot, and afterward they stay in a separate area inside, so you can shoot in private.

My favorite part was being able to check the shots in real time! On the large monitor in front, the left side shows a live view and the right side shows the photos just taken. You can check poses and expressions right away, which made shooting much easier.

Anniversary couple photos and a maternity shoot preview

We shot our anniversary couple photos in the clothes we wore there: first a beige + white look, then the white short-sleeve tee + jeans we wear every time we take couple photos, for a clean look.

This time we took anniversary photos, and even though my belly isn't big yet, we also did a maternity shoot preview(?) using an ultrasound photo, a doll we brought and the chalkboard from the studio,, I wonder if we can take them with the babies next year hehe

Maybe thanks to the good lighting, even the originals before retouching already had bright color and skin tones, and there were so many photos I loved. They retouch naturally if you ask! We liked so many that we're thinking of retouching them ourselves and printing more >.<
