Hubaldae Daegu Jongno Branch is right in the center of Jongno, so it's easy to get to by subway or bus, and it's close to Dongseongno too, which makes it perfect as a meeting spot!! Above all, the access was so good haha. I think that location is part of why it's such a popular meat spot haha. I went with my boyfriend, and since we were suddenly starving after an escape room, the meat tasted even better,,

Here's the Hubaldae menu! There's pork neck and pork belly, daechang and special tripe BBQ, and the special ramen and special fried rice are the famous ones. There's no steamed rice or doenjang-jjigae (soybean stew); for a meal you get the special ramen or fried rice, which were really unusual and delicious!

How to enjoy Hubaldae properly: the honey potato wrap combo

They say Hubaldae is the only place in Korea with the signature honey potato wrap! Honey potato, wild garlic pickles, flavorful kimchi, fresh wasabi and a piece of meat: this combination is addictive!

Right after we ordered the meat, the table was set quickly: wild garlic pickles and potato jaeraegi (a kind of seasoned potato side)!! The water kimchi broth was really refreshing and so good,, I drove, so I couldn't have a drink, which was such a shame ㅠㅠ

The flavorful kimchi tastes like kimchi stew, and the broth is good too. It's an essential ingredient to put into the potato wrap.

Potatoes!! Have you ever seen a BBQ place grill potatoes for you? And there are plenty of them. It was great to have enough for the potato wraps haha.

There are autographs inside the restaurant, and I heard many players are real regulars, which raised my expectations haha. Good places really do get noticed first by famous people! It has just the feel of a proper BBQ place!!

Yes, the staff at Hubaldae Daegu Jongno Branch grill the meat for you from start to finish. We ordered 3 servings of pork belly and it came out quickly haha. At BBQ places it's often hard to get the grilling timing right and things get hectic, but at Hubaldae they grill it so it's easy to eat from beginning to end. They even set the spoons and chopsticks, pour the water and portion out the side dishes,, the kindness is the best..

The meat and potatoes are grilled together haha. They check the state of the meat so you can eat it at the best moment, so it definitely tastes even better! An expert's touch is different~~!

The wild garlic pickles were all arranged so they were easy to eat, which felt very thoughtful.

Atmosphere: spacious and lively, good for company dinners and dates

There are baseballs with player autographs, so Hubaldae is the real deal haha. The restaurant feels lively and clean. It's obviously spacious, right? It looked really good as a place for a company dinner or a date!

Hubaldae's signature honey butter potato wrap: how did it taste?

The signature at Hubaldae Jongno Branch is the honey butter potato wrap!! The quality of the meat itself was really good, but what makes it special is that they grill the honey butter potato and basil together! I'd never seen a potato wrap combo at a BBQ place, so it was fascinating and special. The potato was crispy outside and moist inside, sweet and nutty, and eaten with the meat the combination was just crazy,, not a side dish but a main-level presence!!

I honestly want to go back just to eat this,, I wish more BBQ places had potato wraps ㅠㅠㅠ They grill sundae (Korean blood sausage) together too, and it was tasty. Nutty and chewy,,

They grill the meat, potatoes and even basil together, and the aroma spreads subtly and brings out the flavor of the meat, which was great! Among BBQ places in Jongno, Daegu, this one definitely has a distinguishing point!!

I ate a piece of meat in a potato wrap, then again with basil on top, and it tasted new each time, so there was no chance of getting tired of it, and it went really well with cola too. Next time I'll leave the car at home and come for a drink,, I heard Hubaldae Jongno Branch is also opening soon near Dongdaegu Station, which should be even better for people from out of town>< The more good restaurants there are, the happier we are, right?

Hubaldae special ramen: how is it different from regular ramen?

We ordered the Hubaldae special ramen too!

The special ramen is different from regular ramen. It tasted a lot like meat, as if some sauce had gone in, and it was delicious! Wrapped up with the meat, it's a real treat too>< You're full, but it's the kind of ramen you keep reaching for.

Staff service at Hubaldae Daegu Jongno Branch and whether I'd return

The meat is great, but I have to talk about how kind the Hubaldae staff were! They kept checking whether we needed anything and explained the meat kindly, and it felt so good to be taken care of haha. A place that gets the service perfect too! A Jongno, Daegu BBQ spot I'd 100% revisit, Hubaldae!!

After the escape room I had the combo of low blood sugar, exhaustion and hunger, but I ate really well and came home happy! If you're looking for tasty BBQ in Jongno, remember Hubaldae!! Easy to reach, great atmosphere, excellent meat, and the honey butter meat wrap!! Absolutely, highly recommended
