A place to eat bukkake udon near Konkuk University Station: Kosi Konkuk University Branch
Kosi Konkuk University Branch is a Japanese restaurant near Konkuk University Station serving Japanese-style bukkake udon. I hadn't been to Konkuk in a while, and the area was still packed with people! While figuring out what to eat for lunch, I ended up at Kosi, a Japanese restaurant in the area!
I had bukkake udon in Fukuoka and it was so good that I'd been meaning to find it again once I got back to Korea, but there really aren't many places serving bukkake udon here! And then, right on cue, I heard that a Japanese restaurant called Kosi served it — so I ran straight over!

Apparently Kosi specializes in house-made udon noodles and handmade tonkatsu. I'd passed by the Konkuk branch a few times before, and this time I finally got to go in!

What's the atmosphere like at Kosi Konkuk University Branch?
The place was bigger than I expected, with plenty of tables! Maybe because I went at lunchtime, but it was packed with people!

What's on the menu at Kosi Konkuk University Branch?
The menu board had all kinds of Japanese dishes! There was a huge range of udon — cold udon, hot udon, kamabutter udon — plus tonkatsu and donburi!

What does the tori-ten bukkake udon set look like?
I ordered the tori-ten bukkake udon set! Ordering the set gets you an assorted tempura plate on the side!
Oh, and bukkake udon apparently means udon where instead of pouring in a lot of broth, you pour a strong, concentrated udon tsuyu directly over the noodles! It's the udon I fell for in Japan... The tori-ten I ordered means fried chicken!

Since it was tori-ten bukkake udon, the fried chicken came as a topping right on top of the udon noodles!

How does the fist-sized tori-ten (fried chicken) taste?
Kosi Konkuk University Branch's tori-ten is basically the textbook definition of crispy outside, juicy inside! The meat was so moist and full of juices! Fried, but not greasy at all — clean and light in flavor.
The fried chicken piece was genuinely huge! It was seriously about the size of my fist! And there was a lot of it, but it never got tiring to eat!

The set's assorted tempura and inari sushi
The assorted tempura that came with the tori-ten bukkake udon set was a pretty good lineup too! Shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, perilla leaf tempura, squash tempura, and inari sushi — quite the variety!

The shrimp tempura had a thin, crispy batter which I liked. And the shrimp itself was so plump — you could really feel it with every bite!

The sweet potato tempura was sweet, and the soft sweet potato inside the crispy batter went really well together!

The perilla leaf tempura was lovely — that fragrant perilla aroma spread through my whole mouth!
A dipping sauce for the tempura came alongside too! The sauce wasn't salty at all, nicely sweet and tasty! The portion was a bit small though, ㅠㅠ

The inari sushi (fried tofu pocket sushi) was Japanese-style, and its distinct feature was the sweet broth soaked into it. It had a different charm from the tangier Korean-style inari sushi! It also had more rice packed in than I expected, so just one piece was pretty filling!
How are the noodles in Kosi Konkuk University Branch's bukkake udon?
For Kosi Konkuk University Branch's bukkake udon, you pour the tsuyu that comes with it over the noodles! And now, the moment we've been waiting for — time to taste the bukkake udon~

The biggest charm of the bukkake udon at Kosi, a Konkuk favorite, was definitely the springy noodles. Being house-made udon, they were really bouncy and chewy with great texture.
Would I go back to Kosi Konkuk University Branch?
Kosi, a Japanese restaurant near Konkuk University Station, feels like a great spot for an affordable meal. If there were a place like this in my own neighborhood, I'd honestly visit twice a week! The udon noodle texture was absolutely top-tier! Next time I'd love to try the tonkatsu too.
The noodle texture of the bukkake udon in particular was truly unforgettable. If you're looking for good Japanese udon near Konkuk University Station, I definitely recommend giving Kosi a visit!
