Date-night Korean BBQ near Gangnam Station with miso mustard: Giun
In short
Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is an aged Korean pork BBQ restaurant in Yeoksam-dong near Gangnam Station in Seoul. On a date with her boyfriend, the writer ordered the 59,000-won Sulgiun set of galbi samgyeopsal (rib-cut pork belly), hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and gabrisal (pork shoulder collar) with a vegetable platter, and staff grilled every cut at the table so the couple could just sit and talk. Free corkage, the miso mustard dip and a generous side dish lineup also make Giun a solid pick for wedding invitation gatherings.

My boyfriend and I were searching for good Korean BBQ in Yeoksam-dong and found Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch with great reviews! Everyone said it was delicious so we were curious — and the meat was seriously amazing...🥹
What is the atmosphere like at Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch?
The store has soft lighting and a clean, upscale atmosphere. We came for a date, but it felt like it would be perfect for a Gangnam Station wedding invitation gathering too 💌

It's not a loud, ordinary BBQ joint but has a touch of class added in, so it'd be great for chatting while handing out invitations to friends~
Giun's menu lineup and free corkage policy
Giun serves aged meat, and it's even Korean pork, so it's pure deliciousness (aged meat + Korean pork = a combo you can trust..💗)

For meat cuts there's galbi samgyeopsal, moksal (pork neck), galmaegisal (skirt meat), hangjeongsal (pork jowl), and gabrisal, plus side dishes like fried rice and naengmyeon (cold noodles). And if you order a set, a grilled vegetable platter comes along too!

For drinks, there's soju, beer and highballs as basics, plus a decent range of wine, whiskey, and traditional liquors. Oh, and Giun is corkage-free, so you can bring your own drink of choice 🍷
The side dishes served at Giun

The side dishes that pair perfectly with the meat come out neatly arranged — myeong-i namul (mountain leek), gungchae jangajji (pickled aster stem), pa kimchi (green onion kimchi), onion-chive soy pickle, salted seafood, miso mustard, pink salt, and wasabi. These sides really bring up the flavor of the meat😋

Plus rinsed aged kimchi and a special soy sauce✨
What comes in the ₩59,000 Sulgiun set?

Drinking set (₩59,000)
We ordered the drinking set since we wanted to try a variety of cuts along with grilled vegetables too. The drinking set comes with galbi samgyeopsal + hangjeongsal + gabrisal + a grilled vegetable platter!

The thickness of the meat was really impressive too — not thinly sliced but cut thick, giving it great texture!
Grilling service: Giun staff grill every cut for you
Giun's main branch has grilling service, so the staff grill all the meat for you😋 At a wedding invitation gathering, if someone's constantly grilling meat, it's hard to focus on the conversation. But here, staff grill it for you directly, so we just got to sit, talk, and eat, which was so convenient!

How to eat it: the miso mustard and pickled stem lettuce combo
There's also a recommended way to enjoy it — for the first bite of every cut, they recommend Himalayan pink salt
- Grilled green onion + soy sauce
- Myeong-i namul + wasabi
- Miso mustard + gungchae jangajji
- Fresh lettuce salad + salted seafood
Each of those combos is a total hit haha. Personally, #3 was insanely good !!
How do galbi samgyeopsal, gabrisal and hangjeongsal taste?

We started with the samgyeopsal (pork belly) — since it's thick, the outside was golden and crispy while the juices stayed moist inside, so the savory flavor built up the more you chewed. We usually go to a lot of good BBQ places, but the second we tasted this samgyeopsal, we exchanged a look 🥹

The rinsed aged kimchi, lightly grilled and topped with wasabi, is a delicious combo of savory plus tangy-spicy

Gabrisal has a distinctly chewy texture, different from samgyeopsal — definitely its own charm. And because it's aged meat, the flavor of the meat itself was deep too!!

It also went really well with myeong-i namul + wasabi, or miso mustard + gungchae jangajji combos! The miso mustard especially, with its tangy yet slightly savory flavor plus the crunchy texture of the gungchae jangajji, was a total hit when eaten with the thick meat✨

Lastly they grilled the savory hangjeongsal — if you like the distinctive crunchy-yet-chewy texture of hangjeongsal, you have to try it ㅠ_ㅠ👍🏻
The vegetable platter and the free cola at Giun

They grilled vegetables like minari (water dropwort), zucchini, green onion and bracken fern too, so there was plenty to pair with the meat! The side dishes here are so good that the meat just kept disappearing,,,,,,,🤤🤤

I ordered a cola to finish, and they even served it in an insulated cup with ice already in it. That kind of attention to small details is such a nice touch!
Final verdict on Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch for a date
Great for a date, but I'd also recommend Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch for a Gangnam Station wedding invitation gathering! Between the aged meat, the variety of accompaniments, the grilling service, and the free corkage, it's a perfect spot for group get-togethers. If you want to have a wedding invitation gathering in Yeoksam-dong and eat great meat with friends, I truly recommend Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch (seriously delicious).
