Gudi Station sashimi spot with self-serve cup ramyeon: Neomsiljip
In short
Neomsiljip (넘실집) is a cozy aged-sashimi restaurant on a quiet side street near Gudi Station in Guro, Seoul. The writer went with a college junior who doesn't drink, shared aged jeomseongeo (red drum) and red sea bream sashimi over Coke Zero, and had a 3,000-won self-serve yukgaejang cup ramyeon for broth instead of spicy fish stew. Neomsiljip is a Gudi sashimi spot where even non-drinkers can fully enjoy the aged sashimi and the atmosphere.

Today I finally met up with a college junior I hadn't seen in ages, and we went to Neomsiljip (넘실집), an aged sashimi spot near Gudi Station in Guro!! When you hear "near Gudi Station" you might picture a busy, bustling area, but Neomsiljip sits on a relatively quiet side street, which I loved. It was a nice place for a drink with some atmosphere, haha. It's a moody sashimi restaurant that even has outdoor-style seating, which made it even more appealing!

What's the atmosphere at Neomsiljip like?
Neomsiljip is a soft, cozy sashimi restaurant decorated with lighting. Add the outdoor-pub vibe and it was a great place for a drink with some mood! haha

The gentle lighting gives it real mood, so it looked great for a date, or even as a second stop after a blind date, haha. It seems like a good pick when you want aged sashimi and a drink somewhere with atmosphere!

What aged sashimi does Neomsiljip serve?
Neomsiljip sells a wide range of fish, from aged greater amberjack (daebang-eo) to live raw sea bass, jeomseongeo (a white fish), red sea bream, salmon, horse mackerel and sea bream! haha I liked having so many options to choose from depending on your taste. If you love aged sashimi, this place is worth a look!

Neomsiljip's basic side dishes
The basic side dishes were napa cabbage kimchi, chojang (sweet chili vinegar sauce), ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), salad and more! haha They came out neatly and went well with the sashimi.

Can you go to Neomsiljip if you don't drink?
My college junior doesn't drink, so we ordered a Coke Zero at Neomsiljip too, haha. We decided to enjoy the aged sashimi with a cold soft drink instead of alcohol!

How is the aged jeomseongeo and red sea bream sashimi?
We ordered the aged jeomseongeo and red sea bream sashimi at Neomsiljip! It looked so appetizing right away, haha. It was plated beautifully, so it was fun just to look at. They also gave us plenty of wasabi, which you can't skip with sashimi! If you like piling on the wasabi, you'll be happy here, haha.

The jeomseongeo and red sea bream had a lovely bouncy texture, haha. The fish was chewy yet full of savory depth, and with that signature aged-sashimi flavor, every piece was satisfying. Aged sashimi really has its own charm! 😋
Team chojang vs. team ssamjang
I dipped the sashimi in both ssamjang and chojang! haha Personally I'm team chojang, so I dipped in chojang more 🤭 Both went well with the sashimi, so you can enjoy it either way depending on your taste. Bouncy aged sashimi with a sauce was delicious both ways!

Sashimi dipped in chojang is a combo I truly can't stop..! haha Sweet-and-sour chojang meeting chewy aged sashimi made me keep reaching for more. I guess I really am team chojang 🤭

Eating the cabbage salad in between also cleansed the palate nicely~ haha The crunchy texture was perfect for a light bite between pieces of sashimi!

Sashimi on seaweed, with a dab of soy sauce
Of course, you can't skip putting sashimi on a sheet of seaweed and dipping it in soy sauce, haha. The nuttiness of the seaweed and the saltiness of the soy sauce went so well with the chewy aged sashimi! 🤤 It had a different charm, and the sashimi just kept disappearing. Sashimi really is good any way you eat it, haha.

Can you get cup ramyeon instead of spicy fish stew at Neomsiljip?
Neomsiljip has yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) cup ramyeon for ₩3,000, and it's self-serve, so you cook it yourself~ 🍜 Halfway through the sashimi I started craving something warm and brothy, so I ordered one, haha. Spicy fish stew (maeuntang) is the unwritten rule at a sashimi restaurant, but my junior isn't a big fan of it, so we went with cup ramyeon this time! A sip of spicy cup ramyeon broth between bites of chewy aged sashimi was a great combo too! Sashimi and ramyeon actually go together surprisingly well, haha.

Garlic, chili and napa cabbage kimchi on the side
Adding garlic and chili gave it a sharp, tangy kick that was delicious, haha 🌶️ Eating napa cabbage kimchi in between also left my mouth feeling clean! Having so many things to eat it with made the aged sashimi even more enjoyable.

I think I ate almost all the seaweed, lol 🤭 Aged sashimi on roasted seaweed with a dab of soy sauce was so good! The nutty seaweed and the chewy sashimi were a perfect combo, so I kept reaching for it. Roasted seaweed and sashimi, I just can't resist, haha.

This side dish was nice and spicy too! haha Eaten with the sashimi, the spiciness added something special. Even the basic side dishes were good, so it was fun to mix and match everything~

Is there a wait or a full house at Neomsiljip?
By the time we finished eating, the tables around us at Neomsiljip were completely full! haha Even before we got up it was already packed, and some people had to turn away and go elsewhere because there were no seats. That's how popular it was.
Who is Neomsiljip good for?
The aged sashimi is delicious, and with the soft lighting and moody atmosphere, I'd recommend Neomsiljip for dates or get-togethers with friends! If you're looking for good aged sashimi in Gudi, I recommend Neomsiljip, haha. It's also a good spot for a company dinner near Gudi Station, and suits anyone looking for a moody pub in the Gudi area or a atmospheric sashimi restaurant. I had a great time enjoying tasty aged sashimi with my college junior after so long.
