I feel like I had a seriously awesome weekend, Friday through Sunday, haha! On Friday I had dinner and a good long chat with a friend. On Saturday I went to Changdeokgung, which I love, took photos and videos, wore a hanbok (traditional Korean dress), and even had a date in Insadong! On Sunday I saw a show I love and wrapped things up with a nice cold beer, haha.
On weekends I do all this and eat delicious things, but if I ate like this every day, I'd gain weight, right..? So today I'm introducing a salad and poke spot in Daehak-ro that's light, won't make you gain weight, and is great for dieting: Sallering Daehak-ro!
Where is Sallering Daehak-ro, and what are the hours?
Sallering Daehak-ro is at 24 Daehak-ro 10-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the first floor, and it's open 11:00-20:00 (last order 19:30). Come out of Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station and head toward Daehak-ro Arts Theater, and you'll find Daengro Hall. The shop is in that building!
It's a place I go to often when I want a meal that's filling but easy on the stomach, haha.
Sallering Daehak-ro atmosphere and seating

Both outside and inside, Sallering Daehak-ro is decorated in a white and green theme! Salads and poke are often taken away or delivered, but the hall has plenty of seats too, and a lot of people eat in!
I ordered to eat inside the cool shop too! haha
Sallering Daehak-ro menu and prices

The menu runs from basic bibim poke to slim packs and salads, signature wraps, sandwiches, homemade soups, detox drinks and more, lots of diet-friendly food! Diet or not, I'm of the school that you still have to eat properly (?), so I ordered the fire-grilled steak bibim poke with extra toppings and a cold fizzy drink!
What I ordered at Sallering Daehak-ro
- Fire-grilled steak bibim poke - ₩13,900
- 3 event toppings - ₩1,300
- Jalapeño topping - ₩700
- Fried tofu topping - ₩2,000
- Pepsi Zero add-on - ₩1,500
Hehehe, a really hearty order, right? For some reason, when I eat poke I crave plain soda more than a detox drink! Maybe because I just like fizzy drinks, lol
I chose mala mayo as the sauce, and it's honestly great for dieting: just spicy enough to be exciting!
Fire-grilled steak bibim poke on buckwheat noodles: how big is the portion?

The fire-grilled steak bibim poke comes out quickly after ordering! I thought a fire-grilled steak bowl might be skimpy, but it's packed with meat from top to bottom!
And for once I didn't go with greens only. I picked buckwheat noodles! On top there's loads of corn, jalapeño, garlic flakes, fried tofu, quail eggs, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and more! Doesn't it look filling just from the picture? The bowl is big and every topping is piled in, so you get a variety of flavors!
Meat and tofu cover the protein, the vegetables bring vitamins and freshness, the corn pops and the garlic flakes crunch! The jalapeño's heat refreshes you, the quail egg makes it even more filling, and then there are the buckwheat noodles dipped in mala mayo with chewy mushrooms!!! It was honestly a perfect dish.

Mala mayo sauce: drizzle it or dip?
The portion of Sallering's fire-grilled steak bibim poke is really big, so partway through you might get full or a little tired of it. When that happens, one big gulp of soda cools it all down and you can dig back in, lol
Dipping the meat and fried tofu together in the mala mayo goes really well, so do give that combo a try! Personally, I prefer dipping to just the right saltiness over drizzling, and enjoying the poke itself with the natural flavor of the vegetables and toppings. I honestly think it tastes better that way too, hehe
For anyone who wants to diet in a healthy, tasty, filling and fun way!! How about trying Sallering Daehak-ro, a poke and salad spot in Daehak-ro? haha
