I visited Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch (고기꾼김춘배 홍대숲길점), a famous Korean BBQ spot in Hongdae. We had the 2-person hanwoo (Korean beef)/hanton (Korean pork) set, and the meat selection was great and so delicious! Let's get into the review, haha.
Daily 12:00–23:00 / Last order 22:00

Where is Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch, and where to park
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Hongdae Station Exit 6.
If you drive, there's no parking of its own, so use a nearby public parking lot. The Sinchon Nowa Parking Lot is a 5-minute walk away, so I recommend that one.

Opening hours and free corkage
It's open daily from 12 noon to 11 pm, with last order at 10. It's a corkage-free Korean BBQ place, so wine lovers, bring a bottle! Sadly I came for lunch, so I didn't bring any, haha.

Indoor seating and atmosphere
The interior is fairly spacious. The chairs have no backrests, which is a shame, but there are plenty of tables and they're spaced generously, so the meal was comfortable!

Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae menu and prices
Here are the menu and prices at this Hongdae Korean BBQ favorite.
- Hanwoo/hanton set: 2 people 600g ₩109,000 / 3 people 750g ₩162,000 / 4 people 900g ₩214,000
- Hanwoo set: 2 people 400g ₩167,000 / 3 people 600g ₩240,000
- Hanton set: 2 people 600g ₩66,000 / 3 people 900g ₩115,000 / 4 people 1,200g ₩149,000
You can order meat à la carte too, but the signature is the hanwoo/hanton set, which lets you enjoy both beef and pork, so I ordered the 2-person hanwoo/hanton set. The sets are sized well by party, so ordering was no-brainer.

Side dishes and dipping sauces
The basic side dishes, great with the meat, are pajeori (seasoned scallion salad), pickled onions, myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), and kongnamul muchim (seasoned bean sprouts). The sauces are salt, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), garlic sauce, and meljeot (salted anchovy sauce), a really full lineup, haha.

What's in the 600g hanwoo and pork set for 2?
2-person hanwoo/hanton set, ₩109,000. It arrived with a gorgeous, bright-red look. The set has 150g of today's hanwoo cut, 230g of moksal (pork neck), and 200g of galbisal (pork rib meat), so you get to try several kinds of meat.

Hanwoo beef grilled by the staff
The staff grill all the meat for you, so you just eat, and it was great for chatting with my companions. Staff-grilled Hongdae Korean BBQ is the best! The juicy, perfectly grilled beef was so good that I think I ate most of it myself, haha.

Moksal and galbisal with sour kimchi and minari
When we were almost done with the beef, I asked for the pork, and on went the chunky moksal and galbisal. They're thick, so they take a while to cook. The staff also grill sour kimchi and minari (water dropwort) with the pork, which adds wonderful flavor!

Honestly, I'm a total samgyeopsal (pork belly) person, so I wondered if moksal would be good, but it was tender and full of juice, and I happily tried every combination. It went especially well with the pajeori and minari, haha.

Finishing with half-and-half naengmyeon and kkakdugi fried rice
Half-and-half naengmyeon, ₩7,000. You can't have meat without naengmyeon (cold noodles), right? At this Hongdae Korean BBQ, you don't have to choose between mul naengmyeon (in broth) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed), because there's a half-and-half. The portion is generous enough for two, and it was nice to taste both.

Kkakdugi bokkeumbap (diced radish kimchi fried rice), ₩8,000. Fried rice is the Korean dessert, a must! It's a 2-person portion, so I was full and left some, but I'm craving it so much while writing this post, ㅠㅠ. The seasoning is rich, and pressed until golden and crispy, it was so nutty and delicious, haha.
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is famous as a Hongdae Korean BBQ place, and with its atmosphere, meat, and service all good, there's a reason it's well known. Totally recommended, haha.
