Hapjeong Thai team dinner, 12-seat room and sea bass: Saeng Augustine
In short
Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is a Thai and Asian restaurant on basement level 1 of Mecenatpolis by Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul, with private rooms for up to 12 people and 3 hours 30 minutes of free parking. The writer visited with her sister at weekday opening time and, instead of the usual pho (rice noodle soup) and poo pad pong curry (stir-fried crab curry), ordered chili sea bass (36,000 won) and king prawn pad thai (19,000 won). Crispy outside, tender inside and free of any fishy taste, the chili sea bass at Saeng Augustine Hapjeong is worth ordering for a team dinner too.

I doubt anyone doesn't know Saeng Augustine (생어거스틴). As an I-love-Thai-food person, it's a place I have to eat at regularly!! Today I'm introducing the Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch on B1 of Mecenatpolis, which is great for group dinners and get-togethers thanks to its generous 3 hours 30 minutes of parking and group seating ♡
- Daily 11:30-22:00 (Mon-Fri break time 15:00-17:00)
- 200m from Exit 9 of Hapjeong Station
- Free parking (3 hours 30 minutes)

Why is Saeng Augustine Hapjeong good for group dinners and get-togethers?
The Hapjeong branch has about 80 seats, private rooms for 4, 6 and up to 12 people, and 3 hours 30 minutes of free parking for every vehicle. It's on B1 of Mecenatpolis (it feels like the 1st floor), directly connected to Exits 9 and 10 of Hapjeong Station, so access is great too.
I arrived right at weekday opening time, 11:30 a.m., and it was already packed. I was surprised to see reserved signs on every table. With 80 seats spaced generously apart, plus private rooms, it's really set up for Hapjeong get-togethers and office group dinners ᐠ( ¨̮ )ᐟ
Best of all, in the middle of busy Seoul they give every vehicle a generous 3 hours 30 minutes of free parking. So you can eat, then relax at Homeplus, a café or the cinema with no parking stress. That's Saeng Augustine Hapjeong's biggest perk!!

What we ordered and the prices
- Chili sea bass ₩36,000
- King prawn pad thai ₩19,000
Whenever I come to Saeng Augustine I always order the bestsellers like rice noodle soup (pho) or poo pad pong curry, like it's a fixed setting. This time, wanting to try something different with my sister, I boldly ordered from the hidden lineup...

How do you eat the king prawn pad thai?
The key to the king prawn pad thai (₩19,000) at Saeng Augustine Hapjeong is to squeeze on lemon juice, sprinkle chili flakes and mix it all up. King prawn pad thai 🦐 hello, prawn!! It arrived showing off its huge king prawns. To enjoy pad thai perfectly you need a little ritual first, haha. Here it goes
Pick up the fresh lemon on the side of the bowl and squeeze the juice all over, then sprinkle on chili flakes for a sharp kick, as much as you like, and

Toss the noodles and ingredients together and you're ready to eat 🖤 The crunchy fresh bean sprouts with the ground peanuts, ugh... peanuts always lift the whole flavor of pad thai. Take a big bite of the well-mixed thick noodles and plump prawn and your mouth fills with sweet, tangy, nutty savoriness, hehe (˘͈ᵕ ˘͈♡)

What does the chili sea bass, Saeng Augustine Hapjeong's hidden signature, taste like?
The chili sea bass (₩36,000) is an authentic Thai-style fish dish: a large sea bass weighing over 1kg, fried crispy whole from head to tail and served with a sweet-and-sour spicy chili sauce. This is the hidden signature dish I sincerely, strongly recommend at Saeng Augustine Hapjeong 🐟 The special chili sauce is built on a tangy, spicy Sriracha base that any Korean would love. Crispy outside, juicy inside, plus that tangy sauce, it was really delicious.

When I pulled off a big piece of thick fish with my chopsticks, the soft, moist flesh of the in-season fish came tumbling out. The oil is drained well, so the mild, nutty sea bass soaks up the deep, spicy savoriness of the chili sauce. It wasn't fishy at all, and I was impressed down to the last bite. This chili sea bass is a total "gam-da-sal" (감다살, "feels like it's alive") dish (˘͈ᵕ ˘͈🤍)
It also pairs perfectly with drinks like beer or a highball, so I think it might be the number-one pick for an evening group dinner.
Who is Saeng Augustine Hapjeong recommended for?

Saeng Augustine Hapjeong serves around 60 varied Asian dishes that people of all ages can enjoy without fuss, cooked to order with fresh ingredients. It has every convenience: a pleasant, spacious interior, cozy private rooms and 3 hours 30 minutes of free parking.
If you're looking for a family meal or a Hapjeong Station date spot, I strongly recommend Saeng Augustine Hapjeong, a Thai restaurant inside Mecenatpolis ➰ Off to Thailand we go ✈️⋰˚✩
