While looking for a handmade burger I could eat casually near Kyung Hee University or Hoegi Station, I visited 1986 Shibuya Burger (1986시부야버거). I ordered four burgers to compare a basic burger with options containing hash and jambon.

There were more burger varieties than I expected, so it was a shame I could not try them all at once. As I entered, the Shibuya-inspired interior stood out.

The warm lighting and soft music made for a comfortable meal. It did not feel awkward to eat alone, and I thought it could also work for a meal with friends near Kyung Hee University.

What can you use at the free self-service bar?

My favorite part of the meal was the free self-service bar. I could use a range of sauces freely.

They went well with crispy fries or added to a burger. It was convenient to choose sauces to suit the sides I had ordered.

There were also two kinds of barley tea. Having both sauces and tea available gave me the impression that the restaurant had generously prepared what was needed for a meal.

The Shibuya Classic Burger is a basic burger with a mild patty, cheddar cheese, and pickles. I ordered it without onions. Since toppings can be added or removed, it was easy to tailor to my preference.

At ₩6,700, it felt reasonably priced for a handmade burger meal. Its flavor stayed true to the basics, so it would be a good item to start with on a first visit.

I ordered the Shibuya Golden Hash Burger as a set. Crispy hash and a juicy patty were joined by two different cheeses and a house spicy sauce, creating several flavors in one bite.

The crisp texture, the patty's juices, and the spicy sauce came through in turns, so the flavor did not feel monotonous throughout the meal.

Is the Chipotle Jambon Burger set filling?

The Shibuya Chipotle Jambon Burger stood out for jambon's distinctive savory flavor and the rich taste of the house sauce. I ordered it as a set with fries and cola, which made for a filling meal.

The patty and jambon worked together, while the sauce added to the overall flavor. It is an option to consider when you want a flavor different from a basic burger.

What kind of meal does it suit?

For me, it was a comfortable place for a meal alone or with friends near Kyung Hee University and Hoegi Station. It could also be worth considering when looking for somewhere to eat near Kyung Hee University Medical Center or before or after a performance at the Grand Peace Hall. I liked that the basic burger did not feel expensive and that I could use the sauce bar as well.

At the time of my visit, there was also a notice saying that participants in a Naver event would receive capsule coffee.
