Mexican restaurant, Gimhae: tacos and chili burritos at Holstaco

Wanting something different from my usual meals, I went to Holstaco Yulha (홀스타코 율하) in Yulha, Gimhae. I tried several dishes, including a taco set, chili burrito, and Holsnack.

Where is Holstaco Yulha, and is parking available?

The address is 1F, 82 Gwandong-ro, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea. The hours listed in the original post were 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM, with last orders at 8:00 PM. It was listed as closed every Monday.

There were marked parking spaces in front of the building, which made it convenient to park. I was told that if there were no spaces out front, free parking was also available along Yulha Stream.

Is the atmosphere suited to meeting friends or a date?

Even before going inside, it felt like a taco specialty restaurant. Inside, there were colorful touches and Mexican-style decorations throughout.

Overall, it was neatly arranged, with decorative accents that made it nice for photos. It seemed like a good setting for sharing food with friends or trying something different on a date.

What was on the menu, and what did I order?

The menu had a range of Mexican dishes, including various tacos, burritos, and nachos. There were more kinds of tacos than I expected, so I paused for a moment over what to choose.

I chose a set menu because I wanted to try several dishes together.

I ordered two birria beef tacos from the taco set, a chili burrito, Holsnack, and two drinks. I thought tacos alone might be a little light, but having the other dishes alongside them made for a filling meal.

How did the tacos taste, and how salty was the sauce?

I started with the tacos. The tortilla held meat, vegetables, and sauce together, so each bite had several flavors and textures.

I put on the disposable gloves on the left side of the table and dipped the tacos in the sauce. At first, I used too much sauce, and it was a little salty. The tacos were already seasoned and tasted good without sauce; for my taste, just a little sauce was better. I liked the combination of juicy, savory meat and crisp vegetables.

How were the chili burrito and Holsnack alongside the tacos?

The chili burrito had a soft tortilla filled generously with ingredients. Even half of one was filling, making it a good choice for a meal.

Holsnack was a dish of crispy nachos topped generously with meat and jalapeños. I thought it would also pair well with beer. Beer was available at the restaurant.

What stayed with me after the meal?

The fun of eating the taco meat and vegetables in one bite, the filling burrito, and the crunch of the Holsnack were all different, so I was glad I chose several dishes together. It was a place I could think of when I want something different from my usual food.

That day, the owner gave us ice cream as a complimentary service, which I had after the meal.
