Gwangju Cheomdan hair salon thick wave perm for mom: Eomaek

My mom said she wanted to get her hair done for the first time in ages, just to freshen things up! So I searched for hair salons around Cheomdan in Gwangju, heard that Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch (어맥헤어프로젝트 첨단점) is careful and does a great job, and we paid a visit!

Lots of reviews said it feels like a café, so I had high hopes, and it beat them~~! And the most important part, the hair! Just look at the before and after photos, you can see how different it is, right? Thank you, designer Eunbin (bows)! Today I'll cover parking, the treatment steps and the extras!

How do you park at Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch?

There are 3 ways to park at Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch. You can choose between the 1st-floor garage of the building, the self-parking tower in the same building, and the outdoor second parking lot. Lots of people drive around Cheomdan in Gwangju, right? I figured parking is what you'd most want to know, so here it is~

• Use the 1st-floor garage of the Eomaek Hair Project building
• Use the self-parking tower in the main building
• Use the outdoor second parking lot

Three ways to park, so no parking worries~ If the 1st-floor garage is full and you use the self-parking tower, you enter your plate number when parking the car, and do the same when taking it out.

What if both the 1st-floor garage and the tower are a hassle? Then just use the second parking lot~ Helpfully, there are signposts with directions to it!

There was plenty of space, so I just parked in the 1st-floor garage haha. On the 3rd floor of this building you'll find Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch, which I marked in red~

Go up to the 3rd floor and there's a neon sign that says Eomaek Hair~ There are plants behind the glass, which gives it an eco-friendly feel!

Clean and stylish from the entrance, right? I always love going to the hair salon. It makes me feel pampered~

Is it really a hair salon that feels like a café?

Inside Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch, one side is a café and the other is the salon, with a high ceiling that makes the space feel open. When I searched Eomaek Hair, many reviews called it a café-like hair shop and I wondered what that meant, but one look inside and I got it right away.

Doesn't it look like a real café just from the photo? How is this a hair salon?! I wonder how they came up with decorating the inside like this.. What is this atmosphere haha. I loved it so much.

One side really is a café and the other a salon~~ The ceiling is super high too, so it feels wide open!

And this is the shampoo room! The indirect lighting down below gives it a lovely mood, which is impressive for a shampoo room.

What are the membership and drinks like at Eomaek Hair Project?

The membership at Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch has perks for a men's design 5-visit pass, a ₩300,000 pass and a ₩500,000 pass. For drinks you can pick from 3 coffees (including café latte) and juice, and snacks come too. Before I show the hair transformation, let me tell you about Eomaek Hair's own membership perks~~! They seem to get a lot of men's cut customers, which is probably why the membership has a men's design 5-visit pass!

There are also perks for the ₩300,000 pass and the ₩500,000 pass, so check the photo if you're interested~ And today's drink menu! haha Honestly this is the part that excites me most at a hair salon lol. Since this one is a café-like salon, I was even more excited :)

Unlike other places, there are 3 kinds of coffee! I've never seen a salon serve café latte haha. I'd had coffee in the morning, so I chose juice today~

They also gave us plenty of snacks like rice crackers and butter cookies, which was nice.

What are the steps of the setting heat perm (wave perm)?

The treatment my mom got at Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch this time was a setting heat perm (wave perm). The order was cut → softening → setting heat perm → neutralizing → blow-dry. The perm time has finally come!~!~! It's embarrassing, but let me show you her hair before first~

It's been so long since my mom had her hair done, so the hair looks dry and limp, doesn't it?

Honestly I thought her hair wasn't bad as it was, but look at the after photo, it's sooo different! lol Designer Eunbin gave a very kind and detailed consultation, and my mom especially liked that. I didn't even know she wanted a wave perm, so this was a chance to learn her hair taste haha.

Cut → softening → setting heat perm → neutralizing → blow-dry

First they trimmed the damaged parts a little, and then moved on to the setting perm itself! I especially liked how carefully designer Eunbin applied the product during softening. She applied it in three sections: damaged ends, middle, and roots.

This is the setting heat perm in progress! After the hair is wound on rolls, a heating machine is connected and you just wait a while. My mom said it didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all haha.

How did the waves turn out after the setting heat perm?

After neutralizing and blow-drying, thick, even waves settled into my mom's hair. Ta-da! Finally the after! Aren't the waves nice and even?

With a first perm it often comes out all tight and frizzy and you don't like it, but designer Eunbin picked up on what my mom wanted and gave her thick waves~~! I love how the waves flow down naturally! Doesn't she look a bit more stylish? haha

She even kindly explained how to care for it at the end! For the sake of your hair, you definitely have to put on essence haha.

Verdict: a Cheomdan hair salon that even gives you clinic treatments

After the treatment, Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch gave us two servings of clinic hair products as a service..! I've never seen a salon give clinic products as a freebie. I'm moved,, so moved,,!
