Why I came back to Mini Male near Gyodae Station

Mini Male Seocho Gyodae Branch is a branch I stumbled on near Gyodae Station. I still remembered how much I loved the Yeoksam branch, and when I came to the Gyodae area for an errand, I spotted a Mini Male here too. I wasn't ready to head straight home and wanted a coffee anyway, so I walked in without a second thought, so happy to see it. 😊

It is open Mon–Fri 08:00–19:20 and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. On public holidays and holiday periods, weekend hours apply, I was told.

What is the interior of Mini Male Seocho Gyodae Branch like?

The shop mixes gray tones with stainless steel, so it feels modern and sleek.

Transparent furniture and glass keep the space from feeling stuffy,

and the props scattered around, plus a cassette player, give it a stylish retro mood too.

Best of all, as a roastery café it has a big roasting machine sitting right there, which felt different from an ordinary café. You really get the impression of a place that takes coffee seriously.

What did I order?

For dessert I picked an orange pound cake and, from the handmade New York cookies, the matcha chocolate chip levain cookie. For drinks I ordered a matcha latte and a Helsinki Latte.

As a coffee specialist, it's a good place for coffee lovers to visit. They're also taking part in the upcoming Seoul Cafe Show, so you can feel their interest in and love for coffee.

The tomato ade I'll definitely try next time

On the menu, the tomato ade (a sparkling tomato drink) caught my eye. I'm really curious about it! I went back and forth between it and a latte and ended up not trying it, but I'll come back for it next time.

Matcha latte

I ordered the Mini Male matcha latte iced and switched it to oat milk. I was a bit full, so I chose oat milk instead of milk and enjoyed it with the matcha. If you like matcha's distinctive flavor, it's a good match for dessert.

Matcha chocolate chip levain cookie

The thick matcha chocolate chip levain cookie blends the bittersweet taste of matcha with the sweetness of chocolate chips. The rich matcha plus chocolate balances nicely, and it goes well with coffee too.

Is the orange pound cake too heavy?

Mini Male's orange pound cake has that dense pound cake texture with a fresh orange aroma on top. Pound cake can feel heavy, but the orange flavor leaves a light aftertaste, so it was lovely with coffee.

Iced Helsinki Latte and the decaf option

The Helsinki Latte is a Mini Male must! This time I ordered it iced for the first time. It wasn't too sweet, so it was clean and easy to drink, and the smooth taste of a latte came through well.

I also liked that the Helsinki Latte can be switched to decaf. Even if you visit late, you can enjoy coffee without worrying about caffeine, which I really liked.

I liked the shop's modern atmosphere with retro touches here and there, and it was great for enjoying coffee and dessert at a leisurely pace. I especially liked that the Helsinki Latte can be made decaf, so you can drink it without worry even late in the day.
