Danyang market bakery, sold out Saturday, back Sunday: Danppang
In short
Danppang Bakery (단빵제빵소) is a bakery inside Danyang Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk, selling garlic bread made with Danyang garlic. After Danppang Bakery sold out on Saturday evening, the writer returned around 4 PM on Sunday and bought 2 four-flavor assortment sets (14,000 won each), and the sample bread staff handed out during the wait was pleasantly less sweet than expected. On weekends, go to Danppang Bakery a little earlier rather than late in the day.

Danyang Gugyeong Market is a must-stop whenever I travel to Danyang! This time I went to Danppang Bakery (단빵제빵소), which had easily the longest line in the market. It's famous as a Danyang garlic bread spot, and honestly the smell of garlic bread when you walk past the shop is insane TT Everybody walks around carrying a bread box, haha. On Saturday evening it was almost sold out, so I came back the next day, and here's my review of the bread I finally got~

Why Danppang Bakery had the longest line in Danyang Gugyeong Market
Danppang Bakery is inside Danyang Gugyeong Market, on the market's food row. As you wander the market, there's always one spot with a long line, and when I visited, Danppang's line seemed to be the longest. Above all, the garlic bread smell drifting out front is wild... even if you're just passing by, the smell makes you turn around at least once, haha. The packaging is easy to carry around too, and a lot of people seemed to be buying several boxes at a time as travel gifts.

Does Danppang Bakery's garlic bread sell out on weekend evenings?
When I first stopped by Danppang Bakery late on Saturday evening, some of the bread was already sold out TT The line was pretty long too, so I just gave up that day! In the end I came back on the last day of my trip, haha. I went again around 4 PM on Sunday and the line was long then as well. Luckily, I was able to buy bread.

However, the 4-flavor assortment set I was about to order sold out right in front of me, so I had to wait a bit longer for a fresh batch. On weekends, I'd recommend going a little earlier rather than late!

Danppang Bakery garlic bread menu and the 4-flavor assortment set price
Danppang Bakery sells a variety of garlic breads made with garlic, a specialty of Danyang. These are the main items.
- Original Danyang garlic bread
- Cream cheese garlic bread
- Black garlic cream cheese garlic bread
- Sweet potato custard garlic bread
- 4-flavor assortment set

With this many kinds, you can pick to suit your taste. It was my first time trying it, so rather than choosing just one, I wanted to try several, and I went with the ₩14,000 4-flavor assortment set. I bought 2 sets in total to share with a friend!

A sample while I waited: is Danppang Bakery's garlic bread very sweet?
Danppang Bakery's garlic bread wasn't as sweet as I expected. The staff member was really thoughtful: one type sold out in front of me and I was waiting for a fresh batch, so they handed me a piece of bread to try. When you're waiting, a small gesture like that feels surprisingly nice, haha. I was curious about the taste anyway, so I ate it right away, and, oh? It's not so sweet, and it's good!
Personally I don't like bread that's only sweet. Since it's garlic bread I wondered whether the sweetness would be strong, but it wasn't overwhelming, so I liked it. The lady in front of me tried a sample too and seemed to like it, because she ordered more, hahaha. The staff member is a total sales star haha.

The 4-flavor assortment set and packaging that's easy to carry while traveling
What I liked about Danppang Bakery's 4-flavor assortment set is that you can try several flavors at once. It's fun to pick at a bit of everything rather than having just one kind packed in. I especially liked the packaging. I bought it during my Danyang trip so I had to keep carrying it around, and it was packaging that's easy to carry by hand!

Is Danppang Bakery's garlic bread still good frozen and reheated in an air fryer?
I brought Danppang Bakery's garlic bread home, froze it, and reheated it in the air fryer, and it was still fine. Bread eaten right at the travel spot is surely the best, but reheated at home it was fine too! It tasted good even after freezing, nice.
I think it's a decent choice especially for people like me looking for a snack to eat while traveling, or a Danyang souvenir and food to take home.
Danyang Gugyeong Market's Danppang Bakery garlic bread, in a nutshell
Danppang Bakery, the garlic bread spot in Danyang Gugyeong Market, was one of the places with the longest line on the market's food row when I visited. The garlic bread smell spreading out front was great from the start, and the staff member who handed out a sample while I waited was kind. Above all, I don't like very sweet bread, and this wasn't that sweet, so I enjoyed it. It was good frozen at home and reheated in the air fryer too. If you visit Danyang Gugyeong Market, I recommend getting the garlic bread to go!
