After-work pizza and craft beer pub near Anguk Station: Bogle House
In short
Bogle House is a craft beer and pizza pub in Jongno, Seoul, between Anguk Station and Jongno 3-ga Station on the Ikseon-dong side. After a busy week, the writer went with a friend on a Friday after work for a welcome-drink Asahi draft, a tropical craft beer, a pilsner and a bacon chorizo Cajun pizza topped with fries, dipped in garlic mayo sauce. For two people, one pizza and one beer each is plenty at Bogle House, which makes it a good spot for pizza and beer after work.

Work had been crazy busy since last week and straight into this week, so by Friday I really needed some healing. So I headed to Anguk to meet a friend who works there, for something yummy after work. Let's go!

Where is Bogle House, and when is it open?
Bogle House is a pub about a 7-minute walk from Anguk Station Exit 4, between Jongno 3-ga Station and Anguk Station. Hours are Mon–Thu 4 PM to midnight, Fri–Sat 4 PM to 1 AM, and Sunday 4 PM to 11 PM. The outside has a kind of foreign pub vibe.

- An Ikseon-dong date pub for dinner after a stroll down Seosunra-gil after work

Friday 6 PM at Bogle House: atmosphere and how to order
I got to Bogle House at 6 PM on a Friday and there were already lots of customers inside. The tables were full, so we sat at a bar-style spot. The interior is dark but the lighting is cozy and pretty haha. You order by scanning the QR code on the table.
What we ordered:
- Bacon chorizo Cajun pizza (₩24,000)
- 2 garlic mayo sauces (₩500 x 2)
- 2 craft beers whose names I forgot (₩9,000 / ₩9,500)
By the way, Bogle House requires one alcoholic drink per person. But in return, each person gets a free beer as a welcome drink!

How does the Asahi draft welcome drink taste?
The welcome drink at Bogle House is Asahi draft beer, and it came out right after we ordered. It was topped with a huge head of foam, and the staff explained it tastes best when drunk right away. So I snapped a photo and drank it fast, and it was JMT (so good)! Maybe because of all the foam, it was super smooth and went down easily? It's one of the tastiest beers I've had recently. And for a welcome drink, the amount was pretty generous too b

Tropical craft beer vs. pilsner: how were they different?
For craft beer, we had one tropical-flavor (₩9,500) and one pilsner type (₩9,000). Once we'd happily finished the Asahi welcome drinks, our craft beers arrived. I forgot the beer names (..), but the left one was the pilsner type my friend ordered, and the right one was the tropical-flavor craft beer I ordered.
Mine had a pretty bright yellow color, and I tasted the fruit right from the first sip. It was around 6.2% ABV, which is fairly high for beer, and maybe that's why the flavor was rich, which I liked. It went really well with pizza. My friend's beer felt much thinner and lighter? Probably because of the lower ABV. It seemed perfect for a friend who can't handle alcohol well.

Bacon chorizo Cajun pizza topped with french fries
The bacon chorizo Cajun pizza (₩24,000) I ordered as our main at Bogle House showed up after a few sips of beer.

The bacon chorizo Cajun pizza has french fries piled all over the top. I love bacon and fries, so I ordered it without a second thought. And as you'd expect from a can't-go-wrong topping combo, it was a can't-go-wrong pizza.

You can tell at a glance there's lots of cheese and the toppings look delicious ^&^ Personally, I thought it paired amazingly with the tropical craft beer I ordered (the yellow one). The best pizza-and-beer combo.

Bogle House gives each person a knife for easy eating, so we cut the pizza into bite-size pieces. The dough is neither thick nor thin, and it's quite chewy.

Is the garlic mayo sauce a must-add?
Garlic mayo sauce at Bogle House is ₩500 each, and we ended up ordering two. I'm a sauce lover everyone knows about, so I ordered extra garlic mayo and dipped my pizza in it. Pizza really does taste best dipped in garlic mayo haha. Partway through we ran out of sauce, so I ordered one more. Pizza always goes with garlic mayo~
The pizza was a good size for two, so the value was pretty good too. I recommend it as a Jongno 3-ga pizza-and-beer place for dinner after work on a weekday.

Besides beer, are there highballs too?
Bogle House has plenty of other drinks besides beer. We only had craft beer, but there were quite a few highballs too. Whether it's pizza and beer or pizza with another drink, it seems like a good Ikseon-dong pub for a drink after work.
