Bar-seat Korean BBQ by Beomeo Station, Daegu: Cheongchun Samgyeopsal

In short

Cheongchun Samgyeopsal Beomeo Main Branch is a samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) restaurant in the alley behind Woori Bank near Beomeo Station in Suseong-gu, Daegu. Two of us sat at the bar table and ordered one portion each of pork belly at 14,000 won, pork neck at 14,000 won and hangjeong (pork jowl) at 15,000 won, then finished with Bongpyeong buckwheat cold noodles at 7,000 won while a staff member grilled everything from start to finish. The crunchy hangjeong was the best bite of the night.

There are quietly a lot of good restaurants in the alley by the Woori Bank near Beomeo Station. Especially BBQ places — there are quite a few — and among them I visited 'Cheongchun Samgyeopsal,' a samgyeopsal (pork belly) spot in Beomeo-dong that has a wait 365 days a year haha 😆 Momo C's go-to place again 😋

(I pass by here every day on my way home from work, and every day there are people sitting outside, so yeah, it's definitely a 365-day wait spot 😝)

True to its reputation as a wait-list spot in Beomeo-dong, there's even a separate waiting area off to one side!

Bar seats and a mood that suits a date or a group night in Beomeo-dong

Overall, Cheongchun Samgyeopsal had a clean, stylish feel — more of a slightly emotional, moody atmosphere than the typical BBQ joint vibe, so it seemed like a fine spot for a date or a gathering too!

Besides table seats, there's also a bar-style setup, which looked great for two people sitting side by side eating meat, and the place itself was so tidy that the first impression was already good :) Momo C, who'd been wanting to sit at a bar table, got her wish 😁

A must-try spot near Beomeo Station

The interior really doesn't feel like a typical BBQ joint 👀 Overall it had a wood-toned, slightly old hanok (traditional Korean house) feel with a unique atmosphere, and with the soft lighting added on top, it gave off major moody-bar vibes 🍻 A great drinking spot in Beomeo-dong 🍻 Cheongchun Samgyeopsal 🥩

Cheongchun Samgyeopsal menu and prices: can you order single portions?

The two of us ordered samgyeopsal ₩14,000, pork neck ₩14,000, hangjeong (pork jowl) ₩15,000, and Bongpyeong buckwheat cold noodles ₩7,000, done 😎

Since I already know samgyeopsal is delicious, I tried other cuts too — and the fact that you can order just one portion of each is great 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Even with just two of us, we could still try three different cuts — samgyeopsal, pork neck, and hangjeong — a little of everything we wanted 😋

Staff grill it for you: service and the side dishes

Such a romantic seat, the bar table haha, so very Momo C's style 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You even get to watch the meat being trimmed right in front of you — and the staff member's hands were seriously fast and so kind 😊👍🏻

From trimming the meat to grilling it for everyone at the bar table, one person handled it all solo — and grilled it so well that the flavor was pure art 😁

For the basic side dishes: 3 kinds of pickles, seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned wild greens, salted hairtail intestines, lettuce wraps, wasabi, salt, and 2 kinds of house-made sauces — lots of dipping options, which is great 😁

One portion each of samgyeopsal, pork neck, and hangjeong 🥩 The meat looked great, but the mushrooms and shishito-style peppers served alongside were super fresh too — almost looked fake, they were so perfect 🤣🤣

Grilling it up nicely 😁 They cooked it from start to finish, so all we had to do was sit back and eat 😋

Golden-brown, perfectly cooked samgyeopsal and pork neck! We wrapped some in onion to taste, and topped some with wasabi too!!!

The best cut of the night: hangjeong (pork jowl)

Last up: hangjeong! Is the star saved for last? 👀 ⭐️ Today's number-one dish, hangjeong ⭐️

The texture was almost crunchy, and both the bite and the juiciness were amazing!!! Personally, I think the hangjeong was the tastiest cut we had that day 😋

Finishing with Bongpyeong buckwheat cold noodles, 7,000 won

We finished with Bongpyeong buckwheat cold noodles! It had a yeolmu naengguksu (cold radish-green noodle soup) kind of feel, and since Momo C loves buckwheat noodles, that was already a plus 😆 Like a collab between cold noodles and cold noodle-soup broth, if that makes sense,,,?! haha Such a refreshing finish!!! 😝

Cheongchun Samgyeopsal near Beomeo Station had great food, but the atmosphere was also good, and the staff were all so kind from start to finish — we left full and happy 😊

Now I get why this place always has a wait in Beomeo-dong! The meat was delicious and the vibe was great too — I'm definitely coming back to Cheongchun Samgyeopsal.
