Hongdae restaurant, a regular's favorite pasta combo: Hôtel de Couture

In short

Hôtel de Couture (오뗄드꾸뜨) is a French-style Western restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul, an 8-minute walk from Hongdae Station Exit 3. On this return visit, two pasta plates were ordered by QR code: carrot duck aglio olio (₩18,000) and honey whole-bacon rosé pasta (₩18,000). Unlike before, the dining room was packed with Korean couples and groups of friends. Verdict: Hôtel de Couture is a regular's go-to for pasta that never disappoints, with a 1000% intent to return.

Pasta spread at Hôtel de Couture

Every time I have plans around Hongdae or Yeonnam-dong, there's one restaurant I keep thinking about and end up visiting often. It's Hôtel de Couture (오뗄드꾸뜨, written "Hotel De GGOODD"), known for its French-style mood and truly standout pasta!

It used to be a global hot spot, packed every time with word-of-mouth visitors, from Japanese tourists to all kinds of international guests. This time, though, the place was full of Korean customers out on dates or meeting friends. As a regular I was so happy to see it, so let me get into this eating review right away!

My go-to spot every Hongdae outing, with warm interior vibes

The name means "GGOODD Hotel" in French, and the place feels just like that: a warm, exotic little hotel restaurant in Europe. Inside, orange-yellow walls, fine wooden furniture and marble-patterned tables are arranged in harmony.

The tables aren't cramped, and the lighting makes photos look great, so it's a selfie paradise. You can see why it's always so popular as a Yeonnam-dong date spot or a blind date venue.

A regular's favorite combo: honey whole-bacon rosé pasta and carrot duck aglio olio

Two plates of pasta served on the table

When I come to Hôtel de Couture I usually order the honey whole-bacon rosé pasta with the sweet, soft seasonal fruit French toast. This time I switched it up and went with the signature "carrot duck aglio olio" plus the "honey whole-bacon rosé pasta."

Before long, our two pastas were laid out generously on the table. As you'd expect from a place I visit so often, the look of the food alone made my mouth water.

Aglio olio topped with carrot râpée and duck breast

First I tried the carrot duck aglio olio (₩18,000), an original take on aglio olio (garlic and olive oil pasta) with the nutty aroma of olive oil and garlic, fresh carrot râpée, arugula and nicely grilled duck breast on top.

A bite of noodles with duck and carrot râpée

Twirl the noodles and wrap them around the duck and carrot râpée, and the nuttiness of an oil pasta meets the freshness of the carrots, so it finishes clean with not even a hint of greasiness. It's so, so good that I kept saying how delicious it was.

Thick rosé sauce and smoky-flavored pasta

A plate of honey whole-bacon rosé pasta

Next was the honey whole-bacon rosé pasta (₩18,000), the guaranteed-never-fails dish I order every single time I come to Hôtel de Couture.

Noodles coated in thick rosé sauce

It's topped with thick, generously cut whole bacon, and the moment you bite in, smoky juices and the sweet-salty flavor of honey burst in your mouth. The thick rosé sauce, rich with tomato and cream, soaks deep into every bit of the noodles, so I enjoyed it down to the last spoonful.

I immediately understand why it got famous among foreign tourists. This time most of the guests were Korean, which proves again that it's a Hongdae Station Western restaurant steadily loved by locals too.

Wrapping up

Hôtel de Couture is my true regular spot, where I stop in like a mill every time I come to Hongdae or Yeonnam-dong! From the French mood to the deep flavors of the honey whole-bacon rosé pasta and carrot duck aglio olio, it was a perfect meal. I strongly recommend it if you're looking for a Yeonnam-dong date course or a pasta place that never fails. Of course, 1000% I'll be back!
