Menu and side dishes at Gyegeunsang Jeonbuk-daehak Branch

Checking the tablet menu after sitting down, I found a wide range of options to suit any taste — original Korean-style dakdoritang, aged kimchi, Hanwoo beef intestine, soft tofu, crispy rice, mozzarella cheese dakdoritang, as well as kkotdoritang and saedoritang.

Beyond the main dish, the neatly arranged side dishes are excellent too. Pickled radish, tangy-spicy napa cabbage kimchi, salty pickled perilla leaves, and soft bubbling steamed egg all come together as a solid lineup. Dine-in guests also get free rice refills.

Original Korean-style dakdoritang, boneless, plus glass noodles

About 10 minutes after ordering, this delicious spread from Gyegeunsang Jeonbuk-daehak Branch arrived. We ordered the original Korean-style dakdoritang changed to boneless chicken, plus an extra order of glass noodles.

It comes already cooked, but let's simmer it a bit more with the glass noodles!! The smell alone is already incredible... haha

The main dish, dakdoritang, arrived packed full in a huge pot — the visual alone is overwhelming! The bubbling stew has a deep, spicy broth that makes your mouth water just looking at it! Chewy glass noodles, potatoes, rice cakes and other hearty ingredients blend with the sweet-spicy seasoning, growing richer the longer it simmers.

Extra toppings with rice, plus fried vegetables

Partway through, we ordered extra toppings — glass noodles and crispy rice. Soaking the crunchy, nutty crispy rice in the dakdoritang broth creates a completely different and amazing treat.

The dakdoritang at Gyegeunsang Jeonbuk-daehak Branch was so good that I immediately dug in with a spoonful of rice too. Ladling the spicy dakdoritang broth generously over warm white rice, piling on plenty of chicken, and mixing it all together — there's simply nothing better for devouring rice. Add a side of pickled radish and it tastes like dakgalbi (grilled chicken) but with all the flavor of traditional Korean dakbokkeumtang!!

Pair it with the soft steamed egg and napa cabbage kimchi from the side dishes, and it becomes a perfect Korean meal.

We also ordered the fried vegetables as a side and left stuffed, truly full. If you want to enjoy delicious dakdoritang, generous side dishes, and warm hospitality near Jeonbuk National University, be sure to visit this Jeonbuk-daehak dakdoritang restaurant, Gyegeunsang Jeonbuk-daehak Branch!
