Dongtan Japanese restaurant: solo striploin steak set lunch, Hurato

Today I'm telling you about Hurato Sikdang Dongtan Lake Commo (후라토식당 동탄레이크꼬모점), where I had lunch in Dongtan :) I'd been here before on a date, and it had been a while, so I came back! Since I already knew the taste, I was extra excited, and just like back then, it was still delicious and the staff were still kind. Let's take a look!

Where to park and how to find Hurato Sikdang Dongtan Lake Commo

As the branch name says, it's on the 2nd floor of the Dongtan Lake Commo shopping complex, so parking is easy and access is good. If you drive, use the Lake Commo underground car park; they say to park near Gate 2. I just parked at Gate 5, which was right in front of me, and went up to find it!

If you're walking, take the escalator next to the Olive Young store and Hurato is right in front of you!

I heard they use a Catch Table waitlist, so I went a little late, around 1:30 pm. It was still packed. There were already 2 solo tables and 3 group tables ahead of me, and 3 more tables filled up right after. Clearly a popular spot!

Apart from the weekday break time from 3 pm to 5 pm, they're open from 11:30 am to 10 pm, so it's a good Dongtan place whenever you're craving Japanese food, lunch or dinner.

How do you order at Hurato? NFC phone ordering

Sit down, tap your phone on the NFC tag on the table, open the link, and you can order easily from your phone! Tablet ordering felt like a new world when it first appeared, and this is just as neat. If it doesn't work for you, ask a staff member!

At the time I visited, writing a Naver receipt review got you a mini karaage (fried chicken) or a drink, so keep that in mind! I was so sweaty on the way that I ordered a cold ramune (Japanese soda) too, and they thoughtfully brought a cup of ice along!

Hurato's steak set: striploin grilled the way you like it

The meat for both the gyukatsu and the steak set at Hurato is beef striploin, and it comes out rare so you can grill it to your preferred doneness. Being able to eat it your own way is the biggest plus. I personally like it both rare and well done, so I could enjoy a bit of both.

Oh, and what I ordered was the steak set with curry sauce and an onsen egg (soft hot-spring egg) added! It's a set meal, so it's quite generous!

Grilling striploin steak on your own mini brazier

You grill the steak right away on a personal mini brazier! A staff member sets it up and even lights the candle for you, so the steak cooks up nicely. A tasty smell drifts up, and the thickness is just right, so it goes down easily with a spoonful of rice.

Is Hurato Sikdang Dongtan Lake Commo good for eating alone?

It was a pretty good place to eat alone. While I was eating, there were as many as 3 solo diners, me included. And of course it's a nice-feeling Dongtan restaurant, so it's great for a date with your partner too!

Steak set sauces and why to add curry sauce

The steak set comes with curry sauce, salt and a few other sauces. None of them are spicy, they're all on the sweet side, so they're an easy match for dipping the steak.

You can dip the steak in the curry sauce, but with rice it turns into curry rice, so if you order it as a side, it feels like you're eating several dishes at once!

How did Hurato's striploin steak taste?

I scraped up every bit of the curry sauce, and the steak got a dab of wasabi. Yum! I first tried it only lightly grilled, and overall it was juicy and the freshness of the meat really came through, so it was delicious! I especially liked that the steak wasn't tough.

Dunking it in plenty of sauce is amazing too! I ate a hearty steak set and was so happy that day. The soup was piping hot, and the onsen egg I ordered with it, mixed into the rice, was really filling!
