Mindlemiko Pension (민들레미코펜션) A family trip review of a Cheongju pool pension
Where is Mindlemiko Pension? Location and basic info

This time two families, kids included, got together for a short one-night summer getaway. Our destination was a Cheongju pool pension, Mindlemiko Pension! It sits a bit outside downtown Cheongju, tucked into nature, so mountains surround it and the air was really clean and quiet.
There is no convenience store or shop inside Mindlemiko Pension. Bring water, drinks, snacks and anything else you need in advance and your stay will be much easier.
Mindlemiko Pension exterior in Cheongju

As soon as we arrived, I was surprised by how big it was, much bigger than I expected.

It's not a single pension building but a small complex of several rooms, and Mindlemiko Pension is up the hill.
The exterior and little details all over are done in shades of blue, which suits summer really well.
White buildings with blue accents look clean yet resort-like, and the colors come out beautifully in photos too.
P201 standard room: living room and kitchen
Here's some info for anyone staying at Mindlemiko Pension in Cheongju :) We stayed in the P201 standard room.
- Sleeps 4 (max 6)
- Living room + kitchen
- 2 bedrooms (1 double bed + 1 ondol room, a heated-floor room)
- 4 bedding sets
- 1 bathroom

With the living room and kitchen in one space, it was nice for the families to gather and chat, and the kids had plenty of room to play.
Almost everything you need is already there. When I unpacked, I found more supplies than I expected!
The living room had a TV and air conditioner, and the room was also stocked with a fridge, microwave, cookware and even a hair dryer.

You can cook right in the room, so it was great for simple meals or late-night snacks.

There's also a dry washbasin in the living room, so two families don't get in each other's way.
Two bedrooms: a double bed and an ondol room

The bedroom had one double bed,

and the ondol room had plenty of extra bedding, so two families fit comfortably.
P201 bathroom
The bathroom had plenty of towels, plus toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, which made packing much lighter haha
Pool 1: cold groundwater pool with a shade cover

As a proper Cheongju pool pension, water play is the best! The pool was our favorite part of this trip. Mindlemiko Pension has two pools: one in front of the standard rooms and another on the glamping rooms' side.

There were a few inflatable tubes and even an air gun to pump them up, so apart from your kid's own neck tube you hardly need to bring anything.
The water was kept clean, and the pool is split into zones! One side is really cold groundwater, so the moment I stepped in I couldn't help shouting "Wow!" haha The other side is a relatively cool temperature.

The groundwater zone is about waist-deep for an adult at the deep end and thigh-deep at the shallow end, which is just right for playing with kids.

What I liked most was the shade cover over the pool! The midsummer sun was strong, but the shade meant we didn't have to keep our hats on, so swimming was much more comfortable.
They won't get out of the water~~~

Shot with a film camera app, and the mood is something else, right? It has a retro 70s-80s feel ♥
Pool 2: shallow pool right in front of the rooms
This pool is right in front of the pension, so if you get hot while having BBQ you can pop in for a quick swim, lol. It's a bit shallower than Pool 1.

Splash! haha
That blue is so pretty haha
What is the BBQ area like at Mindlemiko Pension?
BBQ for dinner! The BBQ area is separate and shared by several groups.

After a big day of splashing, the long-awaited BBQ time~~

Best of all, the ventilation was really good.

When grilling meat, smoke can sting your eyes and the smell can soak into your clothes, but here there was almost none of that.

After BBQ, round two inside the pension with the raw fish (hoe) we'd brought ^^ haha
The kids played happily all day while the adults chatted over good food. Even with no special plans, these are the times that stay with you longest. You don't have to go far; laughing, eating and resting with family felt truly precious that day.
Sunset views over the mountains
While eating BBQ I looked outside and the sunset over the mountains was so pretty that I had to grab one shot... ♥
Surrounded by mountains, we could calmly enjoy a view that's hard to find in the city.
If you're planning water play with kids and looking at Cheongju pool pensions, I recommend Mindlemiko Pension :) With its cool blue look, clean rooms, two pools and handy facilities, it was a place where we could stay comfortably.
